Dark California Red Blend 2015

Lots of blackberry flavor; I don't taste the chocolate or coffee referred to on the label. Still, this is something you could curl up with along with your favorite stew (I'm thinking turkey chili with mole). — 6 years ago

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1945

Tasted blind. Ruby color. Almost opaque. Young fruit forward nose. Notes of plums, mocha, dark chocolate, coffee, cinnamon and some exotic thing like eucalyptus. So rich and vibrant in the mouth. A forever finish. This wine took us in all directions. Immortal. Stan's 60th will always be remembered for the 45 Latour vs 45 Mouton mano y mano battle. A wine life moment for sure. — 7 years ago

Château Lafite Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2007

From magnum this was a very feminine and sensual wine. Classic cassis, toasted oak, roasted coffee beans, currants galore. The palate was youthful, though in a great spot now this should drink like this for a few years then start to gain tertiary notes. So balanced, so pure, so classic. Not a great vintage for most but this shows quite well regardless, plenty to enjoy here. — 8 years ago

Château Lagrange

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

St Julien is the most "Californian" Bordeaux style for a reason and Lagrange is not an exception. Ripe Dark fruits, cedar, leather, violets, coffee, firm and soft tannins. Great value for a third growth. — 8 years ago

Bomb! Imperial Stout

A lot of really great components--- love the chocolate, chili spice, and coffee---but in the end the sweetness was overbearing. A very good beer still, but more restraint would have made this excellent in my mind. — 8 years ago

Beringer Vineyards

Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Total score while at Beringer. Half bottles of 2006 PR for $33! Yep. Besides the price, the wine has to be one of the more noble bottlings of the decade for my palate. Super pure in the expression of Cabernet Sauvignon; Blackberry, tobacco, touch of coffee; ALL of the cliches descriptors without being boring. I still drink coffee everyday and I would welcome this wine into my home as frequently. Full bodied but BALANCED all the way through. The front palate is a solid intro, the acid was the surprise component that links the finish to the front beautifully. Nice job — 9 years ago

Goose Island

Bourbon County Brand Stout Aged In Bourbon Barrels 2015

Absolutely one of the best I've had of their line up! 2015 was a great brew. Pours like TAR, sweet tobacco, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, dense creamy lusciousness in a bottle. Never had a beer quite as heavy and wonderful as this. I CANNOT WAIT to pop open the coffee BBS and Barley wine BBS. I'm opening up one more, and then aging the 2nd bottle I have for a few more years to see how it changes! — 8 years ago

Concha y Toro

Don Melchor Puente Alto Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

It's time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time, a wonderful Chilean Cabernet.

Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.

Beautiful nose of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather, bell pepper, sage, peppermint, eucalyptus and smoke.

Full bodied with medium acidity and beautiful long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cherries, figs, cloves, herbs, earth, cola, vanilla, oak, spices, light vegetables, coffee, chocolates, bell pepper, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.

Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.

An elegant, Single Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, with lots of complexity and fitness, but not fully balanced yet.

Still young now, but very enjoyable by itself, and better with BBQ Meats. I paired it with a cheese platter, crackers and nice company.

Grapes are grown at the foot hills of the Andes Mountains, on stony soils. 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc.

14.5% alcohol by volume.
