Something different tonight, Karen and I decided on a Excellent Rioja from Spain. Tobelos 2013, which is 100% Tempranillo. Opened 30 minutes ahead. First impression Rioja had a Great Mouthfeel with loads of black fruits and a touch of spice box. The tannin here are mild and in perfect balance with the fruit. Also on back palate a little wood. Enjoyed with Cobb Salad with a white Balsamic dressing. Wine purchased at WineWorks and salad at HoneyGrow in our center. Bravo to this winery! CB-95 Rating in my book! This is a barrel sample taken in 2009. Bar top and still fresh. Mount Eden selection 37 at Coastlands, when they were 10 year old vines.

Bright salmon pink, nose of cherries, strawberries and a little orange peel. Great minerality joins the fresh, red fruit. Zippy acidity refreshes, and makes me want a Cobb salad. Of course I always want a Cobb salad. I'd take a nice chicken taco salad with it, too. A little hint of raspberry on the finish lends a nice tart side to an otherwise very ripe and fruity wine. — 9 years ago
