Note : Tasted and bought at the estate, a red robe and a nose on a note of sour cherry and red fruits. On the palate, a beautiful aromatic with a correct length on grenadine, strawberry. The tannins are harmonious and very pleasant.

Very good Bordeaux, but the notes by Moore Bros were the most accurate I've ever come across. "...complex, exotic aromas that open with griotte cherries, ripe cassis, fresh fennel, crushed violets, and sweet herbs; adding dried figs, dark cocoa, and flecks of pencil shavings as the nose evolves...". 1985 Domaine Ponsot Griotte-Chambertin w K and McC at Toscana. Wet cork and smelled dodgy at first. Two hours later, completely changed and opened up and became awesome. Super interesting to see how it changed. — 11 years ago

From magnum. Had it next to the stylistically similar Fourrier Gevrey VV, but this was the better wine for me - it had a little more depth and texture. Started of similarly reductive, but quickly opened up to scents of roses, intense red cherry, and smoky insence. The palate's velvety, mix of red and dark fruits, rich but offers lots of freshness with its crisp acidity. Minerality plays second fiddle at the moment, but is evident in the long spicy finish. I bet this was how it looked like when it was first bottled, so time can only make it better. 1er level for sure!

NB: From WH - This plot is located on the southern side of Griotte-Chambertin alongside the Claude Dugat plot and below the Duroché plot of Griottes-Chambertin. It is quite strange that this vineyard has been classified as village as it’s located so close to the Grand Crus. — 6 years ago

1990 DRC Richebourg. Lunch at Tap while DS was visiting. Drank this side by side to the 1985 Griotte-Chambertin. Hard to pick a fave- they were very different. This one had much more fruit and texture to it and I might have favored it slightly. — 7 years ago

Showing excellently, enjoyed over a couple of hours after opening for about half an hour. Sharp, perfumed mineral notes give way to violet, blackberry, cassis, and baking spices and a bit of vanilla. Telltale earthiness and a bit of rusticity at the bottom, but exceptionally smooth with great structure. This went wonderfully with everything from beef tenderloin to grilled scallops and vegetables. The mandarin chutney in the scallop dish brought out plums and griotte cherry in the wine. — 10 years ago
