Roederer makes so many Champagnes that some of the wines can get lost in the shuffle. The Brut Premier is one of my go-to, widely available, affordable Champagnes. And then there are Cristal and Cristal Rosé, which are typically off the charts great. But for some reason I rarely drink the wines in the middle of the range.
The 2002 Vintage is fabulous. Time has softened some of the wine's youthful exuberance. The mousse alone has a regal beauty and finesse that is captivating. But what really strikes me is how fresh and nuanced the 2002 is. The 2002 Vintage will drink well for many more years, and, possibly decades. Today, it is ravishingly beautiful. Gorgeous elegant balanced, not fraught with style. Very pure, more cristal than Krug. — 7 years ago
Second best Rose I've had. Cristal was better but three times the price — 7 years ago
Solera-style - multiple vintages in this one. Easy and very tasty drinking, but there is more about this wine. Will drink again. — 8 years ago
This cider is sooooo good! I highly recommend it! I'm sad I got such a small bottle of it! 😬 — 9 years ago
Good champer, I think I prefer Cristal rose, more linear and precise, good balance loads of strawberries and kirsch — 9 years ago
Still prefer Cristal :-) — 11 years ago
9,3 — 6 years ago
I really liked this bottle. A little funky. Rich. Bold. Very tart in the first 10 minutes, but then mellows. More, please. — 7 years ago
Good herbaceous funk from French punk winemakers. Balanced tannins with good acidity. Old vines. Minimal intervention. — 7 years ago
Roederer is not just about Cristal. Their vintage wines are impressive too. Paired well with a big cut of roasted pork. — 7 years ago
A little NV Cristal on a Friday night — 8 years ago
At the beginning of the fourteenth century, Castilla and León participated in the Reconquista, the re-conquest of the spanish peninsula from its medieval muslim rulers.
Seven centuries later, Bodegas Mauro reconquers our palate.
Absolutely stunning from the cristal clear dark ruby, subtle, but flirty nose, to the rich, red fruit balanced with formal tannins, and a dash of cassis.
The incredibly silky descent, and long, beautiful aftertaste must have the Vega Sicilia family on edge. They simply cannot deliver this craftsmanship at this price.

Amazing champagne. Would rather buy three of these than one cristal. — 10 years ago
very charming burgundy. color is very clear and cristal. chery and berrys.not so strong .i love this little girl — 10 years ago
Absolutely one of the finest champagnes I have ever had. Dom or Cristal have nothing on this baby. Very bright, crisp, inviting to drink and leaves a full and sexy hint of Grapefruit on the palate. — 11 years ago
Heavy apple notes, hint of brioche. Since I’ve been ruined by having had Cristal (thanks to an awfully nice friend of mine), nothing can ever compare! — 6 years ago
Just outstanding not only a great champagne but an outstanding wine. Slightly oxidized style, long Burn, high minerality . Selosse much much better than the highly touted Krug, Dom Perignon, Cristal. — 6 years ago
Because bitcoin doesn’t go up forever, and we can’t drink Cristal every night. Fortunately Louis Roederer produces a dynamite sparkler from their estate in Anderson Valley for a song... wholesale price for a case of Roederer Estate Brut is roughly the retail price for a bottle of Cristal. When you factor in the price, this is stunning. Outrageous complexity meets mouthwatering deliciousness. Loaded with baked and toasted overtones, the apple and lemon somehow manages to make it back to the surface. Refreshing and yet heavily spiced. You should have a bottle of this in your fridge at all times. And this was, deservedly, #25 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2017. — 6 years ago
Served at Easter. I had an epiphany. After decades of drinking DRCs, Leroy, Coche, Raveneau, krug, Salon, Cristal, Latour Haut Brion, I am done with them. I am going to drink Woodbridge exclusively. Does anyone know if it comes in white and sparkling? — 7 years ago
This wine shows very well how 2008 is a classic chablis vintage; lot of tension, reduced aromas of stones, minerality, a cristal clear structure... That is a great white wine — 7 years ago
Had this beauty when I proposed to my fiancé! 1996 vintage brut by De Venoge out of Epernay! Age has done this champagne well. Nice creamy mouth feel, delicate, very fine bubbles, lemon zest, mousse, golden apples, toasted nuts.. arguably one of the best 1996 champagnes out there. A prime example of how a great growing year and proper aging after digorgement, like a 15+ year old vintage Cristal or Bolinger. Can't wait to try their vintage Rosé extra brut 2002, and their 2006 Rosé Brut that are also 93 rated! They both probably need several more years to mature so that the citrus acidity has lessened a bit and all the complexities emurge. Back from my tangent, try this champagne before there aren't anymore left! $199 at total wine for the gift set! — 9 years ago
Jay-Z's favorite bubbly, this pink Champagne falls under the Champagne Cattier umbrella. "Ace of Spades" is the new Cristal, at least in hip hop circles. About as limited as a wine can get. This one is mainly sold at night clubs.
I sold this Liter for $2,000.00. My guest loved it and bought a total of 2 bottles. Wow!! — 9 years ago

Champagne of the night for me in an outstanding grouping of Salon, Cristal, Krug and other heavyweights. Rich and creamy with bright, zesty acidity but so light on it’s feet. Citrus with a hazelnut chaser. Thank you kindly @Shawn R — 6 years ago
