Côtes du Jura Trousseau 2015

If George Clinton and Parliament were a wine, they’d be a bottle of this. Woah this was such a fun and funky bottle. First time to try a natural wine from Jura, and definitely not my last. Deep red fruit and earthy tones on the nose shifts to a super light bodied wine. Notes of rainier cherries, pink peppercorns, a beautiful earthiness. Each sip starts with a nice little spritz followed by an extremely smooth finish that allowed for this wine to work well with the majority of our meat courses. Edinburgh has a surprisingly terrific wine scene. Spectacular — 7 years ago

@Jordan Wardlaw I had this bottle at Timberyard in Edinburgh, but Rootstock Wines is the importer to the US. Having trouble finding a shop that sells this particular wine though. Going to do a little bit more research

Le Ginglet Arbois Pupillin Trousseau 2015

Pomegranate, blood orange rind, raspberry meringue, cranberry compote, barnyard, game, maitakes, white pepper, haystack, fresh thyme. Lively acid/minimal tannin balance, light bodied, juicy-satin texture, fruity-floral-earthy finish. A George Clinton amount of funk upon opening, gradually develops refinement/elegance after an hour while retaining its rusticity. One of a kind. — 8 years ago

Domaine du Gros' Noré

Bandol Mourvedre Blend 2009

We decided to go for a 'uuuuuge wine for debate no.3. Decanted one hour--thin and hot on initial tasting, fascinating to see how the elements come together clicking and whirring. Deep purple with some gradation at the rim. Herbal/slate/cherry nose. Flavor profile holds true with the nose, herbal approach, plum, stones, amazingly astringent tannic finish, all imbued with heat. Perfect with lamb. This should drink well through the first Hillary Clinton administration and beyond. — 9 years ago

Bones Restaurant in ATL. With @Clinton Coe Left Bank BDX. Really nice bouquet of dark fruits. Tannins and acid were in balance after 3 hours of decanting. Drank along side 13 Silver Oak Alexander Valley and 12 La Jota Howell Mountain. All the wines were showing well with great company. 📈 — 8 years ago

L'Ermitage Brut Anderson Valley Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2007

A little more toast and caramel than I am used to. Pear, honey, apples, dash of nuts...

Yeasty, oaky nose.

Pale golden hue.

April 29, 2016. U of M graduation weekend. Spring weather. Looks like Clinton vs Trump in the Presidential race.

How this beautiful wine got only 90pts? I don't know.

This is one I want around all the time.

Violets on the nose and dark fruits on taste. Everything you would want in a pie*

Did I mention this is on the list at the F.L.? Shhh

Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon

Le Monsard Mâcon-Bussières Chardonnay 2015

Still high from @Jim Wagonfeld 's Northern Rhône / Sauternes Thanksgiving lovefest and not quite ready to go back to our workaday plonk, we dug into the cellar and opened this Lafon Mâcon-Bussières. It is a thing of beauty. Not especially complex, but buzzing with intelligence and acid. Nose is creamy Chardonnay, but subdued. Palate is lush, with an acidic finish that seemingly goes on forever. One imagines this as the "chardonnay" Hillary Clinton consoled herself with. Cold comfort, but it's the small things... — 8 years ago

Chelsea Goldschmidt Alexander Valley Merlot 2014

... we like all the Goldschmidt sisters, and the Clinton sisters as well. Had been saving for the inaugural, but are now serving Chelsea and Hillary to our mutually devastated friends who deserve a finely crafted wine. Not over the top, this Merlot is smooth on the palate and refreshing. Chelsea is neither austere nor pretentious, and with it's amazing pedigree, it is certainly ready to lead off tonights dinner with dear friends. Later tonight, we will be enjoying Goldschmidt's "Hillary" as the keynote. Hopefully the delegates tonight will avoid 3rd party shenanigans, and stay thru dessert when we will serve a delicious chocolate cake.

Don't worry. Come next year all our wines will be made from the best American grapes (they taste like freedom) picked only by American workers (they're the best, trust me they're the best) and they'll be bottled in the biggest bottles. I'm talking yuuuge bottles. Like 10 feet tall. And the Mexicans will pay for those bottles. Believe me. They'll pay.
