These Etna Rossos from old vine Nerello Mascalese are a new interest of mine. Grown on volcanic soil's obviously, the winds can have a high wire tension of fruit acidity and tannin not dissimilar from young Nebbiolo's from more northern clime, such as Gattinara. This '09 is somewhat developed, and drinking nicely, but still has plenty of life left. Delectable tagged this as Guardiola, which is a white. It's really a red from the Sciaranuova Contrada (lava flow) — 10 years ago
GW tasting 9/27/16. More buttery nose and fruitier palate still nicely balanced by mineralogy and acids. Fuller body with more structure and power. Yum. Very cool clime. 16 months in barrel. 15% new rest neutral. Native years and fully Malo. — 9 years ago
Love the producer(s) and the vineyard. Nicely layered Chablis GC with a broader range of fruits than expected from the northern clime & soil. — 11 years ago
Full-throated Cinsault, both aromatic & plush! Old vines (70+ yrs) know how to handle the hot arid clime of Maule Valley. A potpourri of passion fruit in acidity, cocoa & plums in the tannins, rose petal and fennel pollen on the nose. Very lively tonight.... — 9 years ago

Nice deep purple-red colour with delicate blueberry and pepper bouquet. Drinking this 2014 in 2016 and it is not too soon to be drinking it. A pleasant raspberry and blueberry flavour, with gentle mouthfeel. Relatively lightweight but worked well with our chicken dinner. A cold day / room so would be interesting to try it again in a warmer clime and with more time in bottle. Purchased from the Secret Cellar in Tunbridge Wells. — 9 years ago
