Vintage 2014 - 50% cabernet franc, also cab sauvignon, cot and merlot. A great effort: making a very nice red wine in Muscadet country! The wine got 8 months barriques, bio wine with certificate. Smells if you are climbing in a cherries tree while the fruit is ripe And you are harvesting them. Berries also, very vivid, great balance, drinks like lemonade (positive). — 9 years ago
Plummy, chocolate-y, blackberry-bone broth, mint, cast iron in an oven, pumpernickel aromas. Caraway, graphite, black mushroom, burnt beef tips, rose stem, black, burnt cherry. black currant, pepper. Deep well of shadows that fall from big oak trees across climbing black berries. This is a decidedly rich bridge between disparate styles, and the bridge is made of iron. — 9 years ago
2004: Lively lemon lime on entry. Later, a hint of pithy wood. Low dosage of 1.5gr. Broad on the palate after the initial flash of acidity. Still climbing the ladder. — 10 years ago
A wine that begs the question, is it a rosé? The 2013 Angelicall from cult producer Antica Terra and is crafted using unconventional methods, including a week-long maceration on the skins and twelve months aging on the lees. While still translucent and ruby-hued, it shows astonishing, almost brooding concentration and insanely intense aromatics, evoking pastoral images of the forest—salmon berries still on the vine, underbrush and tatty climbing roses. On the palate, silky layers of rhubarb, tart pie cherries, hibiscus and spice. — 10 years ago
Great Grenache. This wine keeps climbing the ladder. It's showing pure red fruits and garrigue. This is wonderfully balanced. Chapeau Amy and Matt. — 11 years ago

Flavors climbing out of the glass - white peach, lychee, pear, apple blossom and straw. Palate is round and layers of juicy. Finishes with a refreshing bitter note of salinity and peach pit. Conclusion - there is not enough Rueda in my life. — 8 years ago
Perfectly integrated, well-ahead of the 1999 (still disjointed a few months ago). Supple, not powerful. Just an absolute pleasure. Red cherries, dried strawberries, rye, subdued tamari with slight balsamic prickle, browned liquorice. This isn't arresting as the '95, but rather it's a quieter, equally thoughtful companion. Effortlessly transportive. With it's constant shifting and ease, it makes me think of friendships. Of the people I've met and the conversations I've loved. Of my friend, Tim, who shared the bottle with me. Of friendships born out of music, climbing, work, school, wine - friendships that transcended the genre in which they emerged.
I wouldn't change anything about this wine. — 9 years ago
Still primary and tight but showing potential. Reflective of the vintage, a green streak, grainy tannins and finally weak midpalate prevents it from climbing great heights. — 10 years ago

This wine pairs well with climbing Everest and smoking a giant cigar at the top :) — 11 years ago

Dark berry, vanilla-oaky nose on a chocolate, leather and blackberry core. Big, brutish, nice tannins with sweet acidity suggesting cellar time will be rewarded. After years of disappointment from this legendary house, Heitz is climbing back into my heart. — 8 years ago

Enjoying a BBQ after a day rock climbing with the family. Spiced plum jam in a glass, not particularly complex but the enjoyment doesn't suffer from it. Excellent. — 10 years ago
This is climbing right now. Impressive concentration, finesse and balance at 13% abv. This goes to show the greatness of the 05' vintage and of this chateau. Mint, cassis, currants, superb. — 11 years ago
Great nose, with a palate of fruit flavors, oak, and a finish of balanced acid! — 12 years ago

This may go down as red wine of the year for me. Which given the time of year and upcoming events is High Praise indeed. But none the less reality. Epic nose. The unmistakable smell of a slaughterhouse over summer. Meat and blood. A huge hit of licorice, leather, and smoke and cherries. The Finish lasted nearly a minute, and had a Mossy granite tone to it that reminded me of climbing in the gunks in the fog. Amazing. So fortunate to have been asked to share this with great friends. #poolwine — 7 years ago
