A study and functional heavyweight - bramble on and on. Nice thick mouthfeel with enough articulate acid to be nuanced. Solid value at 13$...Kisela, of course — 8 years ago
As usually happens in life we sometimes have great surprises... this guy is a prime example of that..an increadable value coming out of the great down under. Dark plum acetone and spice to the nose. Slightly sweet plum dark fruit followed by licorice spice pepper to the palate. Nice mouthfeel but a bit watery on the back end. Velvety tannins and a med plus finish. A very enjoyable experience at an amazing value. — 8 years ago
Great Shiraz from Barossa with great ageing potential. Big core and good tannins, with a floral, spicy, and botanical nose. The pallet exhibits dark vibrant raspberries, black pepper, bay leaf, burnt espresso bean, and silver dollar eucalyptus toward the lingering finish. I still find the RWT to be more my style, in comparison to this beimg more lean in structure and spicy in character. It was a bit less extracted which for some is preferable, but every so often I enjoy more of a rich extracted style of wine. Overall, great effort and I would like to see this one in a few more years.
Cheers!

A little harder because it was with food (paired great with the grilled chicken, Cesar salad, and artichoke) and chocolate (another good pairing). Oaky on the nose and palate, but in a good way. Cherry. — 10 years ago
Nice cherry bouquet. Very balanced and pleasant. Hold its taste for the whole barbecue dinner. Great value! 2010 — 10 years ago
Lovely fruits to start and beautiful tannic and raspberry finish. — 10 years ago
Light strawberry, creamy yeast. Just a touch of pink. Solid sparkler — 11 years ago
Tasted twice with consistent notes. Winner for sure. — 11 years ago
A new favorite. Great tobacco and spice flavors play off the blackberry. Medium body, very low acid. — 7 years ago
This is a 50 50 blend of Syrah and mourvedre, the latter of which was added because it doesn't ripen as quickly, a problem the growers ran into growing Syrah on their soil.
It's a very dark, opaque, purple wine. The aroma is full, raspberry, tar, rose petals, vanilla. It's really tasty, chalky and b vitamins (which I like), bright, broad tannins (if that's a thing).

Came in 2nd in a little wine tasting I conducted! Nice nose and very refined. Good cherry and plum flavors, but lacked depth and boldness. Not bad, but expected more at this price range. Actually think this would be better if you Pnp versus decanting for an hour. Wish it showed better. — 8 years ago
My wife calls it "breakfast wine." Stephen Clarke liked it. It's complex. — 9 years ago
My first time with this wine, made by TRB with fruit from the Clark-Claudon Vineyard on Howell Mtn. Extremely dark in the glass, almost black with just a touch of red at the edge. The nose is great - very expressive on opening, with lots of sweet dark cherries at the fore. The palate shows more dark cherries and black currant fruit, complemented by notes of coffee and plenty of fine tannins on the back end. This reminds me of a slightly fruitier version of a Seavey cab. Really good stuff. — 10 years ago
Welcome to Dr Todd's Wine Bar once again. Tonight we are tasting Elizabeth and Clarke Swanson's 2002 Alexis from Oakville Estates in Napa Valley. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. The cork has a 3mm ring that is well defined. The legs are 4 seconds. The boquet is that of ripe plums. the initial palate is blackberry currant. There is no tanic boquet or taste. The finish is minimally dry, spicy and tantelizing tonthe roof of the mouth. The middle edges of the toungue are tingling. This is very very very good wine!!! I will try and contact the wine makers and order a case of this beautiful wine! Its most likely not available... — 10 years ago
Cedar, cassis, blueberry, heavy berries. More than an everyday red — 10 years ago
I'm quite satisfied with this wine. The smooth combination of fresh fruit flavorers, enhanced by seasoned plums and a hint of passion fruit, help to create a wine that can be enjoyed at many different types of social gatherings. All in all I am suitably impressed with this Shiraz. — 11 years ago
