05 Kanzler. I'm still coming down from last weekend with @DAG @Bill Bender @Charles Gudas What a great gathering. But this 11 year old Kanzler is ticking off all the right boxes. Menthol (alright @DAG EUCALYPTUS), cherries on the nose, bright fruits on the mid-palate, terrifically long finish. Who says KB can't age? In a beautiful place right now. Kanzler always one of my favorites. I have a vertical going. I'm intrigued with CIRQ. Michael Browne is a talented artist. Already looking forward to the next gathering of the Crew. — 8 years ago

Not the big, over-the-top fruit bomb you get with Kosta Browne, nor the elegant intensity of CIRQ. Much leaner and more austere. Probably what someone with a classically trained Burgundian palate would call the perfect expression of Pinot Noir. Just not in my wheelhouse. @Bill Bender and @DAG probably know exactly what I'm talking about. Addendum: several hours have passed since opening and the wine has improved greatly in literally every respect. The nearly non-existent nose now oozes from the glass. The mid palate shows much more fruit, and most of all, the finish exhibits great reach. This wine benefits greatly from a lengthy decant. Lesson learned. — 7 years ago
