Oh sweet Jesus, or should I say bittersweet Jesus as in bittersweet chocolate a touch on fire, a sign of youth and alcohol flames that creep up your nose like a chimney. Blackberry, licorice, and cab franc as in that big tannic chalky cry from the sun drenched Napa floor that screams, Here I Am, Like it or Not! Damn...I like it. And will love it in 3-4 years. — 9 years ago
Traditional New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in the best way. Citrusy, grapefruit forward, crisp and tangy. Perfect for a hot summer day! — 11 years ago
Sophisticated summer in a bottle... Lovely bouquet of flowers, peaches, vanilla, carmel and almonds- reminded me of peach cobbler. I was grateful for the long clean finish as I did not want it to end. Lovely! — 12 years ago

Next to Chimney Rock, my favorite cab. — 13 years ago
Had it February 2011.
Garnet, orange, a bit cloudy.
Nose that changes minute after minute. Fruit and balsamic at first( full on Sangiovese from 96 vintage), then hematite( like Sodaccio 97), later hazelnut, chestnut, Tuscan chimney (Rayas 98), again changes in fava beans notes, herbaceous (cab franc like🙄).
Round, soft with a fresh approach and a good persistence on the palate. Good tannin, complex, enjoyable, but I don't think it will evolve more. — 9 years ago
Cola and Cassis full throttle. Wet dirt and a touch of chimney smoke finish the nose. Strong in the palette but integrated. Pinot beast. — 10 years ago
Laurent loves this wine -- he says its "fumé,"'with the smoked wood of a chimney practically -- and I agree, even though I don't want to taste a chimney. — 10 years ago
Had this with absolute software at the Copper Chimney in Vancouver. It is for osooyoos. — 11 years ago
Like me, this might be approaching "over the hill" but it still has a lot to offer. Ripe tannins, impressive finish...hints of blackberry jam on the nose...leathery...everything I want from a California cab, though sadly this is the last bottle. — 12 years ago
Dark blue fruit, mocha, and spice on a taut frame that spins out to a long minerally finish. This should improve considerably with a few more years of bottle age. — 9 years ago
Good fruit, long smooth finish. Was a Christmas wine and we did a blind rating against a Chimney Rock 2011 Merlot (which I always liked) and the preference was the Melka. Fine bottle. — 10 years ago
2009 is amazing! Enjoyed at chimney park — 10 years ago
Like a lot. Fruity, not overly sweet. — 10 years ago
375 ml. Bold blackberry and black raspberry on nose, white pepper, nutmeg, and chimney smoke. Palate is cooked blackberry, white and black pepper, hints of smoked meat and kalamata olive. Ridge's best non-Monte Bello. Need to get another bottle & hold it a few years, but so hard to do. — 11 years ago
The last from the cellar. — 12 years ago

Crimson red, aromas of plum, peppery finish. Pairs well with Cowgirl Chimney Rock & Italian Casalingo Salami. — 9 years ago
