Riparosso Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2022

2022. Medium body and very dry with medium tannins that smoothed out when paired with the fantastic house-made sausage and marinated pepper pizza. — 2 months ago

Madia Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

Nose - Crayons (in a good way), Old wood barrels and Petrichor. Main tastes - Muted fruit flavors because it’s so soft and smooth on the tannins for the most part. Maybe a bit of crab apples from the acid. Really approachable food wine. I love Montepulcianos so I’m a bit bias here with my rating but overall it’s really nice. — 3 months ago

Inferi Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2019

Maybe the most interesting montepulciano that I’ve had. Super complex. Tons of oak but balanced with heavy acidity. Would love to have again. — 7 months ago

Vigneto di Popoli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2017

Plum, red fruit, jammy… showing age, fully developed. Tertiary notes of cloves, black cardamom, smoke, game, leather. Surprisingly high acid. — 9 months ago

Organic Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2021

Great spiced fruit aromas- like a pot of cherries stewing in mulling spices. Good balance. Also carries that pheromone odor that I pick up in many good Italian wines. — 3 years ago

Cantina Zaccagnini

Il Vino Dal Tralcetto Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2022

Deep purple in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced intensity primary and secondary aromas of blackberries, dried herbs, and vanilla; on the palate, it's dry, with high acidity, high tannins, medium alcohol, full body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of plum, baking spices, a hint of black pepper, and crushed gravel with a long finish. This wine is intense and balanced, but it's difficult to differentiate the flavors. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. — 2 months ago

Farnese

Edizione Cinque Autoctoni Red Blend 2020

What a wine! Semi dried ripe cherries in nose. Balanced and mild tanins. Line, plums, dark cherries and a pinch of sour dark bread on plateau. Palette rich, medium rounded and developed nicely within breathing.

Comparing to vintages 2021 and 2022 much less sweet and fruity. Feels like more matured than it is.

Great itself and paired to smoked meat.
