Simple and great for meals. — 8 years ago
I was quite happy with this super duper Tuscan. Quite, as it aged with grace and sophistication.
Pergolaia is harvested by hand in September from their Podere Serra all’olio and Podere Nocolino vineyards. Big, bombastic and mature flavors of plum, cherry, leather and cedar really shine in this smooth blend of mostly Sangiovese (with a small percentage of Cab Franc, Cab Sauv and Merlot. Elegant and well balanced drinking in every way, I'd say.

Great honey, raisin, and lemon notes on the palate. Very giving on the nose. Sweet with high acidity — 11 years ago
Wow. Wine of the day. After Montrose, Calon Segur, and Cos D'Estournel, this is simply outstanding. — 12 years ago
Super tart on the palette. Citrusy and almost sour. Orange. Vanilla. Grassy. — 13 years ago
My favourite Cotes De Bourg wine in a top vintage @ £60 😁 will keep improving 👍 If you’ve never tried this tiny region of Bordeaux you should check it out as there are some great value bottles here; this being one of the more expensive as made by the folks behind Tertre Roteboeuf 😎

At twice the price of a Calon Segur 2010, this Lynch Bages did not stand a chance... needs more maturity still. — 9 years ago
2nd wine of the night. Completely differen than our 1st. I kept myself wanting to go back to Calon Segur but alas there was now to be had. This had dark fruit., big Cab and a rather short finish. Very good but not awesome tonight. — 10 years ago
Sem flavor with mineral/acidity of sav blanc... No vegetal flavor or melon — 10 years ago
Dry and fruity with a nice finish. Cherry and orange notes. — 11 years ago
My fav bordeaux of the night but others preferred the '85 calon segur...this was lightsr and more elegant, and more ready to drink but will still hold for several more years. Great mature old boots, leaves and mushroom with a kiss of cassis still hanging around...very well balanced, well oaked classic bordeaux. — 11 years ago
Incredibly drinkable. Great classic saint emilion nose. Lovely vanilla finish. Great value. Extremely enjoyable. — 13 years ago

Tasted blind. Tawny color, translucent with amber rims. Notes of black cherry, cedar, some spice and a little barnyard floor. Sweet fruit in the mouth, with tannins fully resolved. Guessed 1955 Calon Segur. Perfect looking bottle, the cork revealed this bottle was reconditioned by the Chateau in 2000. — 8 years ago
Young. Much more tar and dark fruit compared to the Calon segur 95. This is more intense in body and finish. More pronounced acidity. Needs another 5 years to smooth out more — 8 years ago

And why are we wearing the same shirt on our profile picture @Martin G RivardInky violet red. Green pepper is less prominent and the body is juicier and fruitier than other cheap Bordeaux I've had. Oak age defines this: the tannins are big but silked out considerably, and the aroma and finish are decidedly that pruney oak deal. Part of me likes the sharp raw green pepper thing, but this is much more drinkable. This is a buy-again winner. — 10 years ago
