3rd time I’ve had the chance to try this wine which was released more than 20 years after the vintage. It’s a real stunner, showing some secondary characteristics but not oxidized. This is what great chardonnay can become with age, showing the awesome terroir of the Charles Heintz vineyard. — 7 years ago
Another 4th Friday for the books! Insane pulls this month to follow up the most epic month (April) that we’ve ever had!
This is viscous and tart. Very pear driven. Some lemon and lime (reminds me of a more full bodied Charles Heintz chard), hints of malo, honeyed-mango. Not extremely acidic and does well at pop and pour. — 7 years ago
Lemon custard. Nice acidity and an elegant mid palate. Can’t wait to try again later. — 8 years ago

(A solera of Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay, vintages 2008-2012, released 2015)
Understandably misunderstood. This wine—like other oxidized wines such as Vin Jaune, Madeira and Sherry—deserves a day or two in the decanter to really shine.
Notes of caramelized pineapple, finger lime and hazelnut are braced by a minerality that is out of this world. Probably want to sit on this for a few years.
Glad I stocked up when this was released; this is only going to get better, putting on weight and fleshing out even further. — 9 years ago
This is the 2012 Charles Heintz Vineyard. Impressive juice. — 10 years ago
100% Charles Heintz Vineyard fruit and showing transparent quality. Still shy but classic profile and pristine fruit. — 10 years ago
L’ho trovato al supermercato a Marfa in Texas. Il produtotore e’ famoso. Merlo e’ popolare da Washington anche. E’ equillibrato molto e facile di bere. Sarebbe un’optizione per vini casuali. — 7 years ago
I love this wine and have urged Sharon Harris (owner of Rarecat Wine - full disclosure, a friend of mine) to start making this wine again. The color is a beautiful golden and the taste is a tropical explosion, with lots of Meyer lemons and caramel. Very hard to find, but if you do, buy it! — 7 years ago
⚡️Man, these wines have so much verve.. they remind me of my 4-yr old - full of freaking energy and absolutely unrelenting... in a good way of course 😇
Nose is so clean with some mineral drive, crisp Granny Smith, and floral aromatics, palate is lively and fresh.. much more crisp and light weight than the Charles Heintz vineyard. The anti-Cali chard. Rombauer lovers, look away! 😆 — 8 years ago
Balanced champagne rose blend, ideal for Christmas Eve dinner - paired it with calamari dorati, tagliatelle burro e salvia, steamed chestnuts, stuffed peppers and tapenade. Lovely dinner with Amel, Sarah, mama, Mr Rogers and Yafi. — 8 years ago
Unbelievable! Golden, pineapple, honey. Rich, but not "oaky". Not buttery, either. Weighty mouthfeel, almost oily, but not too viscous. I'm duly impressed with how well this Chardonnay has aged. The "isobel" is from the Russian River Valley via the Charles Heintz Vineyard. — 8 years ago
Nice pineapple, passionfruit and yellow florals on the nose. Meyer lemon, pineapple, apricots, stone fruit, yellow florals, creamy, touch waxy, nice acidity, round, minerality is soft-perfect, really big nice finish. It will be interesting to see how much more this wine will show after 4-5 years in the bottle. — 9 years ago
With Peter and Charles. Very good. — 10 years ago
Ripe tree fruit and honey. Definitely went through ML. Great nose but it cuts off a bit short on the palate. — 10 years ago
Grand cru vineyard @Zepaltas Wines and you offer a generous version. Thank you — 10 years ago

Extraordinary Chardonnay. No oak/butter, beautiful fruit and just a little spice. I need more. — 7 years ago
What a Friday group tasting put on by Dan! Killer wines. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert. All blind.
As soon as I smelt this, my guess was a young Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay. It always has such a tropical nose, dominant of guava and papaya...so different from other west coast Chardonnays. I ended up guessing the vineyard correct ✔️. — 8 years ago
Troppo dosato 11g/L. Stucchevole. Sei anni sui lieviti e 40% vini riserva. — 8 years ago
I have always wanted to try this guys wines. Very eccentric in his release philosophy, current vintage of the chard is 1999. On this night I got to try 3 different '95s. By far the best of the bunch was the Charles Heintz vineyard which had matured into something unrecognizable in CA chard. Great experience. — 8 years ago
Pretty solid Pinot. Tart red fruit with racy acidity. Midpalate maintains interest and it fades nicely into a clean finish. Quintessential Sonoma coast Pinot. — 9 years ago
Love this rose juicy and bright — 10 years ago
Very good vintage wine. Very complex and rich in the nose. Intense flavors as well. Belo vintage, complexo em notas aromáticas e em boca também. Um belo achado em Reims - pena que não encontramos no Brasil. — 10 years ago
