Chapelle Saint Heyriès

Château La Chapelle Canterane

Saint-Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Very acceptable with a lamb gigot façon auvergnate (4 heures de cuisson à l'étouffée) — 7 years ago

Chapelle Saint Heyriès

Croix du Coq Red Rhone Blend 1995

Color: dense plum falls off fairly abruptly to a rim of brick. Real decent legs but not crazy.

Nose: lots going on here. Dust. Baked fruit. A little citrus. Reminds me of a baked cobbler. A mix of sweet Mediterranean spices. I distinctly get slow-braised lamb in caramelized onions.

Taste:
Tannins are very soft but certainly present. Medium-to-heavy body, little sweetness, for sure on the drier side. Jam, prunes, dark berries. Finish is a bit funky, like a camembert. Overall impression is a cool but bold well-balanced and nuanced wine.

Old vines make a huge difference. One of the best CDP's I have had. Great with prime rib.

Loads of Syrah spice and bay leaves additions, complementing its developed fruit character where pure, gently dried cherries, figs, Vahlrona chocolate and blackberry jam add complexity to the still promising, built-up finish. — 9 years ago

Chapelle Saint-Valéry

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Old world, so needs food! But with food, complements it very well...beef, lamb, red meats in general. Excellent value for around $25. This was a 2012. 2009 is superior. — 9 years ago
