Love this wine. Had in Bora Bora — 8 months ago
Dark garnet color with a wide brim and just a touch of bricking, nothing serious at all. The nose is still kicking at this mature age with a ton of earth notes. Mushrooms and wet moss. Old leather and fresh underbrush. Things are a bit more muted on day two but the fruit does come to play a little. Plums and blackberries mainly with just a little nip of cherry.
You always wonder about these birth year wines as you get older and older and older but I instantly had no doubts about this baby and did it ever deliver. Plenty of nice depth and kept its structure well on day two. The palate was lovely with a nice combination of refinement and rusticity. The streak of mild spice that showed was quite welcome and brings it all home. Terrific stuff. A fantastic aged Bordeaux.

Tastes new but after breathing a little 😋 plus only $13 — 5 years ago
Not one of the best Bordeaux that I have drank but quite decent. 20 years old and still holding its own. for the price point back in 2008 it delivered. — 4 months ago
We’ve been saving this 2004 for a special occasion. It was worth it. Smooth and a wonderful pairing with a Christmas Eve roast. — 5 months ago
Medium Ruby color with aromas of ripe black and red fruits and pepper spice. On the palate flavors of plums and ripe red berries with herb, licorice and pepper spice. Fine soft tannins with, medium+ finish ending with fruit, mushroom and earthy notes. — 5 months ago
Lovely chard. Great opening. Yes — 8 months ago
First on the nose was ripe stone fruits, peach especially. On palate, some minerality comes through and the mouthfeel from time on lees is delicious and creamy. Very long and pleasant finish. — 4 years ago
Blend of 45% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 20% Bourboulenc and 5% barrel-fermented Roussanne, pale lemon color with aromas of green and stone fruits with citrus and honey notes. On the palate flavors of apricot, apple, peach and pear, crisp with good balance of acid, still fresh and lively. The medium+ finish is tangy with smoky, nutty earthy ending. Good now, some age will benefit the wine! Nice! Be sure not to over chill as you will lose out on all of the complex flavors and aromas. — 5 months ago
A GSM blend that is 75 percent Grenache. Great balance, nice fruitiness. December 2024. — 5 months ago
On the tail end of its prime window, but still hitting. Like a mealy yellow apple, not quite browned. Has cider notes but plenty of acid in the mouth for vibrancy. Laser lemon cleaner with toasted oak becomes candied kumquat and sweet clementine.
Theres a lot of beautiful weight and texture and raw power that comes out to play as you let it warm. — 9 months ago

Flight 4 , wine 2. This was quite a difficult wine to read at first , again quite closed , mineral and tobacco edged . Dark fruits. On the palate rounder than expected , good richness and balance , dark cherry , blackberry fruit . Good rounded tannin and ok length . Quite obviously Bordeaux in the context of this tasting , though I had this as the Lynch Bages 1982 when it was actually the Brane Cantenac 1986 …..I give up ! 90
This was an interesting , though challenging tasting , all served blind in flights of 2 wines , 3 flights of 1 Napa and 1 Bordeaux and 1 of 2 Bordeaux; served in a random sequence . The fact that at least a couple of wines were not pristine didn’t help , though if you will taste 8 , 40 year old wines that is probably par for the course . I found it relatively easy to spot whether what was in the glass was Napa or Bordeaux but didn’t actually get a single wine completely correct ! Probably overall the winner of the tasting was Napa (won the 3 rounds 2-1) as they had more suave polished , rounded personalities. Many put the wines the wrong way round , imagining that Napa was Bordeaux etc. The 1982s in general showed poorly too much funk and brett on the Lynch and Talbot but the Duhart showed surprisingly well . The 86s both showed pretty well and equalled the Dominus (even though I didn’t think we had a pristine bottle) . The Montelena was enjoyable , though was the first to oxidise whilst the Inglenook was the biggest positive surprise , still drinking surprisingly well at 47 . — 3 months ago
