Château Segur Du Cros

Rudd

Oakville Estate Red Blend 2010

3rd wine of the night: 2010 RUDD estate.
Bigger, more depth and a longer finish than Backus but not as long as Calon Segur. Just a tad below Calon this evening. 2nd place tonight.

Still have not had Rudd, its on my list.
On the Morlet you'll see a 2010 estate on winebid for $115.00, price from the winery was $225.00, thats why I stopped buying direct except for the 2014 La proportion doree,

Wow. Wine of the day. After Montrose, Calon Segur, and Cos D'Estournel, this is simply outstanding. — 11 years ago

St. Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2009

Subtle and delicate. Eucalyptus and menthol notes, inherent in saint estephe, I've found. Love this second wine from phelan segur — 11 years ago

Backus Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

2nd wine of the night. Completely differen than our 1st. I kept myself wanting to go back to Calon Segur but alas there was now to be had. This had dark fruit., big Cab and a rather short finish. Very good but not awesome tonight. — 9 years ago

2000: 15 year old CD-R villages tasting tasty. Dark and heady, black fruit, figs, raisins, chocolate, leather, meaty, some aniseed notes. Softened, no grip or acidity. Ready and open but complex, in the dried fruit spectrum, rum & raisin. — 10 years ago

Château Lafon-Rochet

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1985

My fav bordeaux of the night but others preferred the '85 calon segur...this was lightsr and more elegant, and more ready to drink but will still hold for several more years. Great mature old boots, leaves and mushroom with a kiss of cassis still hanging around...very well balanced, well oaked classic bordeaux. — 10 years ago

Great for dinner or just to have a glass on the couch with a movie. I would honestly take this basically any time I want a glass of red. Full bodied, on the dry side, and not too sweet/juicy. — 9 years ago

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)

La Tâche Pinot Noir 1990

Oenomaniacs don't have pearly gates, we have Domaine de la Romanee Conti La Tache 1990. Outrageously sexy, with a celestial perfume of asian spices and underbrush and dried cherry. Eternal finish that tattoos itself on your tongue and palate. Medium to full-bodied, with startling freshness and grip for a quarter-centurion. La Tache 1990 will enthrall for another 30 to 50 years.
