A medium red with a slight orange rim, the '98 Domaine Saint Benoit Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Grande Garde' exhibits roasted aromas of raisiny red fruits, espresso, bitter chocolate, leather and spice. A dry aftertaste proceeds a moderate length finish. Near the end of its prime though. — 11 years ago
