Expectations exceeded with full body Macon-- Simple but lovely. — 9 years ago
Deep, dark beautiful red. A little spicy, hints of pepper. Very soft, smooth finish. Low tannic finish. — 9 years ago
This is interesting to me. I've had a few vintages of this merlot and enjoyed them all. Even though this is a Michel Rolland styled effort, it shows as an unmistakably new world merlot. Lots of plum and blueberry, very little of the restraint you'd see in a right bank Bordeaux. — 10 years ago
Try again in 3 years. — 10 years ago
Good fruit and extremely sweet tannins. Length, yet tasted blind it woukd be hard saying Ribera here. New world style — 10 years ago

Blackberry, black cherry, plum, vanilla, leather. Well integrated with long finish. Velvety tannins — 9 years ago
Blackberry, cassis, and an early touch of fig that becomes more earthy--leather, mushroom, and floral(?) with aeration. Persistent and mildly chalky tannins afford a nice compliment with grilled filet mignon. Still too young; rating would likely increase (91-92?) with more time. — 9 years ago
Very mild, classic light white — 10 years ago
12 years aged in French oak it was an absolute delight to drink. — 10 years ago
So I've had a few vintages of this wine. Not been happy with them. But this 05, the first one made, is good. Bought on futures. At 11 years it's showing almost the right amount of age. I'd say drink in next 5 years. Well worth under 50 bucks. I think I paid 40. — 10 years ago

Spending Valentine's Day with a big boy. No, Cara hasn't undergone some major change. Rather, this Fontenil packs a punch... black and blue (fruit that is). An overt and tasty offering from Michel Rolland. — 8 years ago
