Black Sheep Finds

Holus Bolus Franc de Pied Syrah 2013

Dark stone fruit, dark garnet velvet in color, deceptively light nose with strawberry and a touch of ash. Front palate of dark cherry, hint of cocoa. Slightly more fruit full finish with strong, balanced tannins. I’d buy for home too. — 7 years ago

Château de Lascaux

Les Pierres d'Argent White Blend 2012

Nose: rich nose of sweet honey, orange blossom, stone fruit, white rose... The floral component balance very well the fruit one. After flowers, stone fruit comes
Palate: medium body but still very light, good acidity level - nice citrus then flowers note, honey. Drinkable but still complex enough.

Troika

Troika Cabernet Sauvignon Pied à Terre Napa Valley 2013

Greg Ballington
9.1

Last winery on day two in Sonoma was Troika Wines with Jeff, Noel and Ari. Last wine was their Mount Veeder Merlot.

Deep ruby red. Lush nose with cinnamon, violets, dark berries, jasmine and a little bit of bramble too. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and a medium plus body. A bit earthy on the palate with some dark plums, blackberries and sweet spices. Dry medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2024. (91+)

$$ - Tasted at the winery with Noel, Jeff and Ari. Release price is $50.00.

Petit Chablis Franc de pied. It is a pure chardonnay. The vines dates pre-1923 and it resisted to phylloxera due to the composition of the soil where they were planted: clay loam soil.
