Château Pavillon Rocher

Mont Rocher

Vielles Vignes Pays d'Hérault Carignan

Delicious! Medium bodied, somewhat dry, almost creamy texture, fruity but not jammy. — 4 years ago

Maison Albert Bichot

Domaine du Pavillon Clos des Maréchaudes Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Pinot Noir

A little more nuance out of this one. The single vineyard allows the spice to meld well with earthy ness of this wine. — 6 years ago

Pavillon la Tourelle

Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2013

Light ruby color with some purple and brown mixed tone. Just a tiny hazy and essentially clear. Nose of sour cherries, berries like raspberries, and a bit cedar. Taste of refreshing acidic raspberry, sour cherries , spice like sage/clove, cola, and some roasted peppers note. Light but balanced. Aftertaste is a bit weak, dominated by the spice note, roasted pepper, a bit cola, and hickory note. Quite an interesting Bordeaux. — 7 years ago

Château Rocher-Calon

Montagne-Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Inky violet red. Green pepper is less prominent and the body is juicier and fruitier than other cheap Bordeaux I've had. Oak age defines this: the tannins are big but silked out considerably, and the aroma and finish are decidedly that pruney oak deal. Part of me likes the sharp raw green pepper thing, but this is much more drinkable. This is a buy-again winner. — 8 years ago

Touche-Mitaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Chenin Blanc 2017

First time drinking Xavier’s wines and I’m really impressed. Stone fruit, apricot, peach, pineapple, white flowers...and continues to open with air and comes up to temp. Really delicious and reminds me a bit of Sandlands Chenin.

This 2015 is a great value. A little thin mid palate, but a very good bordeaux representation for around $20 USD — 6 years ago

Domaine du Pavillon de Chavannes

Côte de Brouilly Gamay 2015

Oh mygosh on a scale of one to pastille heaven I might rate this as an eight point nine plus, a few bonus unofficial point stops in a swamp of bramble and raspberry bush. A ripe swamp.,Love it. It could be I am a gamay nut but I dug this heartily. If I were eating steak? Oh no. Not even with a soy sauce-braised tempeh extravaganza. But for sipping, with a pal, with-let me recommend---a nice soft pretzel (welcome to my heavenly LA life) and YAS. That's the stuff — 7 years ago

Les Borderies Chenin Blanc 2015

This is gorgeous. A bit funky on the nose, but the palate is beautiful white flowers, a touch of honeysuckle and a balancing acid. The apples start to show themselves with a bit of air, but they're hardly abundant. — 7 years ago

This bottle is really pushing the saturation question but remains really focused and expressive. Restrained aromas, full textural. - unfiltered palate. It is top notch Cab Franc in its bass notes. — 9 years ago
