Vintage 1990 — 12 years ago
From a lieu dit surrounded by Gevrey. Definitely young but with a couple hour decant quite enjoyable and accessible. Tons of sweet cherry on the nose; aromatically really quite intense. Full on the palate, get more tannin than I was expecting, but very nicely balanced by a lot of acid. Enjoyed it with a roast chicken provencal but could have stood up to red meat too. Nice qpr at ~$30. Note this is not the “cuvee unique”, which apparently a 100% new oak bottling - this is the regular which is 85% old. — 5 years ago
Don’t want the secret to get out but an amazing wine that bucks the reputation of its vintage. — 6 years ago
Earthy and smooth.
A no headache red. Love it — 7 years ago
This seductively perfumed Beaujolais perfectly captures the charm of the vintage: balance, tension and seamless texture, with noteworthy purity and energy, make the Grand Cras Irresistible now, although a little patience will bring greater depth and complexity. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Feb 2018) $24 — 8 years ago
Wow! Above expectations! Bernard Magrez does it again... — 8 years ago
A pinot noir with structure and depth. Nice spice and hint of tobacco. Dark fruits on the palate, medium to high acidity and slightly bitter undertone. Mineral and clean finish. For a price under 40, this 1er is of great value — 9 years ago
Fresh June strawberries, high alc surprisingly well integrated. — 10 years ago
A recco from the local liquor store. Beautiful eggplant purple, and jammy as Hell. Smoky, peppery and loads of black fruit. Must. Get. More. — 11 years ago
Hey Jono & Kent, savouring a delicious Meursault here at Wauwinet. Pity you are not here to share with us! — 11 years ago
Beaucoup de chair, super équilibré, vraiment délicieux, coup de cœur. — 12 years ago
Had some interesting moments but a bit disjointed. Peeling layers you hit nice fruit and flowers with the occasional astringent harsh dead tobacco leaf. Weird but with personality. Maybe a few years will help it come together. Drank over three nights. — 5 years ago
Wonderfully fragrant with notes of cinnamon gum, amaretto, leather shop, white mushroom, spiced plum on the nose. Mellow notes of cherry pie, buttery crust, with hints of marzipan on the palate with smooth tobacco and cinnamon on a nice lingering finish. Drink by itself! :) — 6 years ago
Still quite young tasting especially relative to the 96 corton renardes from gaunoux. Would love to revisit in 5-10 years and see what this grows into. — 7 years ago
