This was ok. Not great. Nose was pleasing but palate was meh. We had with steak and grilled veggies, so it's not like the food didn't give it a fair shake. Coin toss as if to more time or the vintage. My gut says vintage and drink up, but I am just a simple minded middle aged American. Do what you will. Xo — 9 years ago
Tart green bananas and lime. Weighty, well rounded, and quite an extraordinary chasselas. — 10 years ago

As stately as I expected it to be (can one really expect anything less of a wine as legendary as Cristal in one of Champagne's most celebrated vintages?) glinting pale gold, the color of a freshly-minted coin. The 2002 Champagne Cristal Brut Millésimé is imbued with soaring notes of pear and smoke, brioche and chalk. Disgorged in 2009, this is a precise wine—it has a sort of crystalline weightless density, with fruit buoyed by a fine mousse, and edgy saline-tinged minerality emerging at the close. 10 grams dosage.
"You must be as precise as a Swiss watchmaker, I tell my team," our host, M. Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Chef de Caves at Roederer stressed. Precision in spades. — 9 years ago
The Day is Hot🌞 & the #FilthyGoodVino is Cold❄️ Blain-Gagnard Chassagne La Boudriotte on the Bench! Fresher and tighter than some for a Chassagne-Montrachet. Still generous, just settling into it's skin as a 2012. Yummy, would like to see some more layering of both texture and complexity. EDIT: Opened with time and warmth & the layers of flavour came through, but, not the texture, the oak is an edge coarse. Kinda had more fun with @francodanna's Siberia for half the coin. #BeingAPickyBastard #Chardonnay #Wine — 9 years ago

Belle découverte dans le coin cellier ! Bien équilibré, bon rapport qualité-prix et un bouchon en verre ! Parfait avec des pâtes, pas trop corsé, se voit bien en toute occasion. — 8 years ago
Must decant for about 45 minutes but wow - inky chewy explosion in your mouth. Worth the extra coin. — 8 years ago

Harlan's second label (don't have the coin to afford the first label!), this is a classic Napa cab. Intense nose of cassis with hints of vanilla, black fruits, and perhaps a trace of leather. Still a bit closed on the palate, this is a great example of a CA cab that will evolve into a great wine, but probably a few more years down the line. Not convinced on the quality/price ratio, but this is a terrific wine. — 8 years ago

08’ Peter Michael Les Pavots. Very few wines that have elegance & power. Silky textures that caress the palate. No holes or slack in this. Drinking very close to a pop & pour . Don’t think you can go wrong with anything they have made in the last 15 years. Pure enjoyment! It’s a coin flip between the 2008 & 2009 at this particular point. I’m so surprised this wine isn’t year after year a top 💯 wine. Drinking now. Edit - 2009 - One of the best California blends from that vintage! — 7 years ago
