Nice but needs some time to open up - either a couple years or an hour in a decanter. Deep dark red fruit with a hint of spicy poking through the considerable structure. — 9 years ago

Good acid to challenge my elk tartar. Could use a little more body, but very nice for my pallet. — 11 years ago

Old-school, not as transparent and dynamic as Joblot, but equally persuasive. — 7 years ago
Great smooth and easy drinking oaky and fruity, mostly merlot but not boring. Great without food but better with red meat — 8 years ago

1996 vintage. At Ryozanpaku in Kyoto, Japan. Medium garnet - slight bricking around the edge. Medium intensity of aromas, manure, earth, blackberry, violet creams and savoury spices. Fairly complex if slightly mature. On the palate, good fresh acidity, medium body and noticeable rounded tannins. The mid palate is flavoursome and impressive. The finish is slightly short. Probably won't benefit from further ageing. However, I suggest giving the wine 30 minutes of air before serving. — 9 years ago

It was nice to taste. Dense, youthful. The St Aubins are still relatively good value for the $ — 6 years ago
