Delicious. Can drink now or two days from now. — 10 years ago
forest raspberry, leather, haut gout, very smooth but slightly bitter and a aldehyde reminiscence in the afterhall. — 10 years ago
Sustainably farmed and sourced from Entre-Deux-Mers the deep red and black fruit give you a lush jammy full finish over the palate. Yes, of course it is young and could use a few years in the bottle but there were only 6,000 cases produced. As a direct import this 50% Merlot 35% Cabernet 15% Cab. Franc has more value than meets the eye and is a steal at around $12. Especially with so much cheap Bordeaux out there this is a much smoother affordable ride to the — 11 years ago

Easy drinking, everyday wine — 12 years ago
2015 vintage. An amazing year for Pessac-Léognan as demonstrated by this second wine of Smith Haut Lafitte. A 50/50 Merlot/ Cabernet Sauvignon blend, aged 14 months in barriques (20% new). Interestingly this estate has its own "tonellerie", they make their own barrels. Beautiful nose with truffles and ripe red and black fruit. In the mouth it shows serious fruit concentration, ripe tannin and great spicy length. Very charming indeed. One can imagine the quality of the "grand vin" in this vintage. Abv. 14% — 4 years ago
My husband really enjoyed this. We purchased from Costco. — 6 years ago
Last night I opened the 2016 Château Barde-Haut Saint Emilion Grand Cru. What an exquisite Right Bank Bordeaux a blend of 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc.
The nose has fragrant aromas of black cherry, black plum, black raspberry, fig, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and damp earth.
The palate show luscious notes of black cherry, raspberry, green bell pepper, plum, herbaceous notes, black currant and crushed rock.
This wine is medium to full bodied, well balanced, rich fruited mouthfeel with medium + acidity and medium + fine tannins that lead into a black fruit finish. Again we are all preoccupied by the goings on of the events of the last several weeks that seem to be turning everyone into weak minded individuals. Please be strong, go about your lives as normal and most of all stay safe. Enjoy your wine and be good to each other. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 6 years ago
This might be the best QPR wine out there (I think I paid 20bucks) drinks like 10x that and then some. White pepper, slate and grapefruit. Chewy structure. Just awesome wine. Story is this is either the press wine or the after picks from a 1st growth BDX. Somebody told me Haut Brion. I can see that. Wish I had a lot more. — 10 years ago

Having a little trouble buying anything but Grand Vins de Bordeaux right now. — 12 years ago
Iron, cedar, cherry, spice, baby bit of brett on nose. Palate is similar in a lean style. Absolutely delicious. — 13 years ago
Nice balance, good berries up front and pepper and a little leather. I felt it could have a little more depth. Ugo liked it more than me. Aged well. Nice treat. — 4 years ago
Great. Full. Merlot forward but the splash of Malbec rounds this out nicely. In Mag. — 6 years ago
Big WOW! I tasted this wine in September 2018 at the event held by the French embassy at Central World in Bangkok, Thailand; the wine did not impress my tounge at all. However, I bought 2 bottles because a friend of mine imported it. Today (Jan 18, 2019), the wine tasted very delucious after 30 minutes of breathing. Very flavorfull of cherry, blackberry, plum, and tobacco together with soft tannins and silky & reasonable length on the finish. The color is intense but bright ruby red color with medium-to-full-weight which is goes well with medium & sexy acidity. Very good value, excellent balanced, and savory wine to pair well with medium spicy Thai dishes. — 7 years ago
TFW Costco is selling good Bordeaux for $16. Good wine for a study group trying to differentiate Fruit condition between old and new world merlot/cab. — 9 years ago

K&L notes as follows, Grand Pontet is an interesting property, positioned in the neighborhood of other stars of the appellation such as Châteaux Canon, Beau-Séjour-Bécot and Clos Fourtet. It is, however, a small estate, a mere 14 hectares, and its prices are much better than some of its more prestigious neighbors. In 1980 it was purchased by Gerard and Dominique Bécot, owners of the neighboring Beau-Séjour-Bécot. They have applied the same high standards to both Châteaux in their possession, and their winemaking team crafts Grand Pontet alongside the Beau-Séjour-Bécot wines. Recently purchased in 2021 by Domaines Clarence Dillon (Haut-Brion, La Mission Haut-Brion, et al.), the property was combined with and incorporated into Château Quintus. Full-bodied and luscious, this Grand Pontet is laden with ripe blackberry fruits, savory tobacco, licorice notes, and ripe, softened tannins. It’s seamless and bold, not shy. It’s going to require something decadent to pair with, such as filet mignon or some other black-tie dish with plenty of flavor and rich umami presence. — 4 years ago
