The quintessential St Estephe - savoury black fruit, earthy, slightly leathery/smoky. Firm yet juicy tannins, fresh acidity, v. nice depth & length. Lacks maybe some elegance but makes it up with authenticity. Not so much for sipping, and yet a perfect food wine. — 2 months ago
2016 - picked this up at Central Market for $15 about 18 months ago. Nice blend, good mouth feel and robust dark fruit on the pallet. — 3 months ago
Solid low-price Bordeaux that delivers correct Bordeaux flavors under $30. Nothing special but it’s an enjoyable casual Bordeaux. Light enough to enjoy alone or with casual food like tacos. — 3 months ago
Pop and pour. A beautiful dark ruby red color. On the nose: very aeromatic with dark fruit, herbaceous, some funky earth, leather and touch of mint. Taste: dark cherry, chocolate espresso, spice, tar, little bit of green veggie, and a medium dry finish with a slight still there tannic kick. — 3 months ago
Full bodied, dense, deep ruby Bordeaux. On the nose: dark mulberry fruit, cedar, & a touch of eucalyptus/camphor. On the palate: dark fruit, cedar and light tannins. After 40 minutes decanted the tannins recede and the soft fruit is delicious. This wine is fully mature and a terrific offering from Medoc. If you have it or can get it, drink now and enjoy! — 7 months ago
Solid, smooth, silky finish — 9 months ago
A very tasteful intense rose. Has good peach notes. Easy to smell. Does hit you strong at first but then mellows out into a cool flavoring. It has a glass top (no corkscrew). — 8 years ago
Super floral, super delicious. Serve chilled. — 9 years ago
2009! Fantastic now. Will be unstoppable when it lays down 10 years — 10 years ago
A nice representation of Haut-Médoc. Red fruits, moderate tannin. The 2016 drinking nicely in 2024. — 2 months ago
Low acid, red currant, pretty tame. Oaky on the nose, easy drinking, medium bodied, ashy, tannings. Good! — 2 months ago
What an amazing grape is Chenin Blanc. We had a delicious dry version from WA earlier in the week and now this gorgeous 39 year old Vouvray from the Loire Valley in half bottle. Not really sweet enough to be called a dessert style - spatlese at best. Mid to pale gold. Toasty notes with pear and mouldy apple. On the palate incredibly fresh and vibrant for its age. Notes of pineapple and a little acid to keep it going in the cellar if desired but hard to beat right now. A great accompaniment to foie gras. One of the 1001 Wines. A wonderful experience. — 3 months ago
We both really like — 6 months ago
NOSE: mild, cooked fruit, a little carob. Inoffensive but not especially inviting.
TASTE: cooking spices, chicory, ash, a little bitter —unsweetened minerally dark chocolate - red fruit barely present and dried. Very balanced and elegant. This is going to kill with the herb roasted chicken I’m about to eat. 91. — 7 months ago
This is solid. Dry. Cantaloupe. Strawberries. — 2 years ago
Pretty sure this bad boy had just reached its passed by date. Still good but would have been soooo much better 3-4 years prior — 8 years ago

Dark & still very youthful, perfumed & elegant, full of energy, ripe dark fruit, with a beautiful fresh menthol-cedar wood note. Layers of Black currant & cassis with some lighter cherry and a touch of fresh raspberries. A hint of dark Ghana chocolate. Ripe & sweet yet savoury. Complex.
Surprisingly energetic on the palate, with a firm tannic frame yet the tannins are juicy, polished, velvety. This is filled with juicy ripe fruit and fresh acidity. Impeccably balanced and with great complexity & depth.
This is a beautiful wine that is just awakening, serious & profound yet so approachable. A spectacular bottle! — 2 months ago
I rode 50km by bike to buy this wine. It does need cellaring. But already at 8 years old, should be good — 3 months ago
In warmer climates chilling is essential — 3 months ago
It has something really unique as always. But it’s so austere this year. A wine that really will need time to be enjoyed at its fullest.

Why is everyone sad that Copain sold to KJ? I predict that the prices will be better and the quality will be more consistent. Don't make me remind you of the 2015 rose which was completely reductive to the point that I had to send cases back to the distributor. It didn't even blow off after 2 days! Anyways, this is a good bottle. When these are too young, they taste like warhead candy, but with just a few years on them, they taste like perfect black berries that just now became ripe. Also, Ray blind tasted me on this and I called it down to the producer. — 8 years ago
