Chante-Perdrix Cornas Syrah 2020

2020 vintage. Decent value for Cornas. Big body. Lots of smoke and fruit with structure but not as much as Cornas usually invoices for. Hyperactive and needs to relax somewhat. Maybe in 3-5 years? Has 9.3 potential in there somewhere. 3.6.24. — 2 years ago

Chateau Clerc-Milon Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Beautiful garnet color. Smokey, musty, and earthy on the nose. Cedar, black raspberries, leather, and tobacco. Well integrated and not overpowering. Very satisfying finish. A real treat to drink a 40-year old wine that is so pleasing to smell, look at, and taste. — 3 years ago

Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah

More fruit forward than I expected from a Syrah. Still got the smoked meat aroma. Blackberries maybe?

Château Clerc Milon

Pauillac Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend 2002

On the smell, blackcurrant, jamy notes and some light dry notes. Very good acidity and tannin. Rounded with a stewed black fruit taste followed by light banana and tropical fruits. Still some time with a good overall balance — 6 years ago

surprising to see it be #wotn; the color showed its age but the pallet was quite young and vibrant; superb balance and acidity. — 7 years ago

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

Reminds me very much of Clerc Milon. Wonderful wine and very smooth. Lots of bouquet to this one. And still young at 2008. — 7 years ago

Really nice CdP coasting in its prime. Good vibrant garnet color and an enticing savory mature fruited earthy nose that opened in half hour. Lively texture and palate, good long finish. — 4 years ago

Empreinte Chante-Perdrix Saint-Joseph Syrah 2014

Spot-on, classic, perfectly delineated Saint Joseph. This is the elegant and pretty side of Syrah. Flowing waves of violets and black pepper lift effortlessly out of the glass with bright red fruits. Mid palate is silk and nearly weightless with fine tannins. Low alcohol and neutral oak profile allow for a very pure expression. Hints of game on the finish with a lingering minerality and a fresh, spicy peppercorn character that would be lovely with a variety of meats and herbs. Beautiful wine that I look forward to revisiting over the next 2-3 years. — 8 years ago
