2004 un cran en dessous du Carbonnieux, mais très réussi. — 10 years ago
A really nice well structured Bordeaux blanc. Not quite the heft of carbonnieux, but a lovely drinker at the beach. Goes great with crab. — 10 years ago
Christine Barbe is the winemaker at Coquerel and she brings years of experience with her, having worked at both Château Carbonnieux and La Louvière in Pessac-Léognan. Her deft handling of this crisp and enchanting white shows—the 2013 Le Petit Coquerel is artfully imbued with bruised pear, cucumber and lemongrass notes. Refreshing and bright, with racy acidity cradled in star fruit, crushed shell and fleur de sel notes. Sur Lies aging adds weight and texture to this poised Calistoga Verdeleho. 13.5% ABV | Sample — 10 years ago
Wow! What a beautiful wine! It's like a fruitier version of Chateau Carbonnieux, my first love!! — 10 years ago

On the nose, muted dark cassis, wild dark, brambly berries, dry stems, pepper, loamy soils, blackberry cola and dark fresh florals. The mouthfeel is big and lush. Tannins are soft and round. The fruits are very ripe. Blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, dark chocolate, mocha powder, salted caramel, spice-box, soft leather, tobacco with ash, crushed dry rocks, stones, black tea & dark fresh florals. The finish is rich, lush and round fruits with just the right touch of earth. As well, the acidity is very good.
