Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe

La Crau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

2004—part of a Vieux Telegraphe vertical. Excellent, with layers of good dark fruit and hints of leather and smoke, plus a nice earthiness overall. A lesson for me on the effect of bottle age. (And also how pro ratings can be off the mark—this was wonderful!) Drinking nicely now... — 12 years ago

Such a treat - 2001 aging in that crazy magical way only Lopez whites can do. Thank you @AlexAlan! — 11 years ago

Paitin di Pasquero-Elia

Serra Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2009

Some of the happiness may indeed be because I've been a little to Californian lately. Occupational hazard. This has got pretty violet aromas mixed with herbal notes of pine and faint rosemary. Palate reflects aromas, adding dried cranberries, leather and tobacco notes. Good tannic grip. — 13 years ago

Dominus Estate

Dominus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2004

04' this wine is structured so beautifully. Proof a great winemaker/winery can produce great wines...in not so great years. The fruit & acidity are still there. It has many years in front of it. Cheers! — 11 years ago

Proof positive that a star producer can deliver in variable vintages. This is an easy contender for the most satisfying Bordeaux experience I've had. Stress eliminator par excellence. — 13 years ago
