The splashy label gave me pause and I approached with caution, but once I tasted, I was hooked. Fruity and warm without being a fruit bomb. Strong finish with stewed fruit and a hint of star anise. I would enjoy this all night solo hit it begs for food. — 10 years ago
Spicy and warming. Delightful — 12 years ago
Cherry. Oak. Smooth tannins. Round body. Easy finish — 7 years ago
This is a rather crazy bottle, opened up today as more of an experiment than anything else. This wine is YOUTH-FUL. The nose is oak, blackberry cassis and graphite. The entry is youthful, sweet, chalky blackberry and fig. The middle of this wine is DENSE. Dark core, black fruits, a little bit of heat. A little smoky, meaty. The finish has a youthful tannin. With 60 acres of vineyard on Howell Mountain and 300 acres of vineyards in Yountville, you can taste the characteristics of both here in this bottling, but needs years to develop its individual personality. — 7 years ago
Consumed 11/2017. I have rated this wine before, but the bottle had a different description so I am adding this one as well. When I try to look back at my previous ratings, I can’t figure out how to see what year the vintage was. That could be why the description on the bottle is different.
Robust flavors of ripe berry fruit meld harmoniously with smoky oak and subtle hints of eucalyptus and the earth. An elegant Cassis note complements the long, noble finish. — 8 years ago
Melon, apple. Pear. Classic Butter popcorn. Some very slight grassiness or herb. Vanilla ramps up on the finish. Complex, strong, and perfectly oaked. Lots of soul here. — 8 years ago
Back in the good ol' days of Silver Oak...I bought several on release knowing very little what my wine future would hold. Cellared perfect, green/bell pepper and straight up dust on the nose. Plenty of fruit and tannins with bright acidity. Mouth fills with a ting of cherry, cola and a mineral element. Finish comes then goes. Hint of spice on the back side. — 9 years ago
Nice golden color. Smoky popcorn tropical fruit aromas, dense and layered. A thick chard with a healthy pop of acidity that switches the finish into a lime mineral bomb. I am intrigued. Still young. — 10 years ago
Very smooth with chocolate flavor — 10 years ago

Always going to be the highlight of the Wynns tasting and only made in years where the fruit quality and vintage conditions were exceptional. Sue Hodder said everything fell into place in 2015 and she made one of her best ever Riddochs. From less than 1% of Wynns available Cabernet fruit. Latent power on nose and palate with black fruits and balanced oak. At least a 30 year future but so balanced you could happily drink this now but one should wait at least 10 years for its charms to start showing through. A brilliant 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. — 7 years ago
This is limited release sauvignon blanc from St. Helena. — 8 years ago
Dark ripe fruits, licorice on the finish — 8 years ago
Good combo of fruit and spice. Easy to drink and good price point. — 8 years ago
Super deep and dark ruby red with an almost black core. Dark baking spices in the front of the nose followed by dark fruits, especially dark dark cherries. With some air there were some purple floral notes and more vanilla. Moderate tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Initially a little tight so we gave it a splash decant. Around an hour or so in, tons of cinnamon and other dark spices. Strong undertone of puréed dark berries and light herbs too. Long body but this needs a little more bottle age. Cannot wait to try it again at the release party next month. Drink till 2028. — 8 years ago

This quickly became one of my favorite wineries! Friendly, approachable, small production, delicious food products and delicious wines! This vintage is 96% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec. I get loads of blueberry, cedar, licorice, flowers (maybe violets), cherry and a hint of peppermint here. Medium body with medium grippy tannins that carry flavors of cherry, licorice and a flint like flavor. Give it time to breathe. Made very much in a old world less fruit forward manner. — 7 years ago
