At Willos Italian Night on Friday. No notes. More a party than a tasting. These Primitivos appeal to many Australian palates because of their size and ripeness. — 9 years ago
Quite impressive wine dominated by cocoa and vanilla, with sweet cherries and long finish. — 9 years ago

Wine spectator says #69 of top 100 of 2014.
A burly, brambly red, underscored by tarry smoke and underbrush notes, offering flavors of blackberry coulis, herb-marinated black olive, grilled mushroom and ground spice. This shows muscle that recommends it to short-term cellaring, made accessible by integration and balance. Drink now through 2024. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. #69 – 91 points — 8 years ago
2014v. Medium ruby color. Light aroma of red cherries. On the palette, there's plum and red cherry, a little ginger spice, and a light oak finish. Tannins fill the checks and front of the mouth, and are chewy not grippy. Good acidity. A well balanced primitivo whose fruit flavors are not overripe. I could imagine this wine would be an excellent pair with tomato sauce pastas, pork, lighter grilled meats, or a meat and cheese platter. Give it at least 30-45min to breathe. 14.5% ABV. — 8 years ago

— 7 years ago

#Italian #primitivo Rich & Robust fruit but not sugary or sweet; long finish with gr8 structure & strength; Deep dark purple color w/ succulent fig aroma — 9 years ago
This is an amazing wine and it is one of my favorite ones to bring to dinners. It is robust tannic fairly big and opens very quickly. As a cousin to the zinfandel it shows as it is extremely drinkable despite it's large tannic quality. Elements of black fruit and pepper remind me of both the zinfandel and the Shiraz. Anyone familiar Shirah from the Rhone Valley should definitely give this one a try. The only thing I will say is that I enjoy it with friends and less you can finish the bottle by yourself. It dies fairly quickly. — 9 years ago

Drank with Humbolt Co turkey sandwiches from Cherry St Kitchen on picnic at Blue Hole Park near Lake Hudson. Excellent rose and pairing. Wine was a gift from dad from Easton, MD. One of the best roses I’ve had. Best with food. — 5 years ago
