2009 vintage. At Boca di Lupo. Medium ruby. On the nose, almond paste, roses, tar and vanilla. With air, more layers. On the palate, medium acidity, medium plus concentration and high tannins - grippy. Medium minus body. Medium finish. With air improved. Drink now until 2023. — 8 years ago
Smooth, very enjoyable red wine from Veneto. — 9 years ago
This is my favorite Winery. And this is my favorite wine from my favorite Winery. As Cerasuolo di Vittoria is Sicily's only docg it's apparent why so. The dark complex fruits of cherry and plum in the frappatto balance and harmonize perfectly with the tobacco, smoke and clay mineral of the nero d'avolo. The ratio was perfect as well. It's a big wine so it gives you the robustness and the impact of a masculine wine. However the complexity and subtlety is not overshadowed by the robustness. All too often I see in central Italian wines the favoring of one over the other. For instance Chianti gives you a big hit and is very dry and very big but has no complexity. This offers The Best of Both Worlds it is close to a perfect wine.
This Wine I intend to buy by the case on that one along with many of their other wines including nero di Lupo & pithos rosso — 9 years ago
2004 vintage. At Boca di Lupo in Soho. Medium tawny hue. On the nose, wonderful aromas similar to between a tawny port or even an Oloroso sherry. Lots of sweet spices, sherried oxidative notes, walnuts and dates, dried fruits. Quite complex. On the palate, high acidity keeps the wine very fresh and there's some power and concentration of flavours. Good length on the finish. Really enjoyable. Drink now but suspect this will improve and keep on going for many years to come: 2030+. — 10 years ago
Great acid! This isn't my type of wine but I found it a really great example of a Tuscan. Again, the acid was perfectly balanced which is rare. — 10 years ago

2011 vintage. At Boca di Lupo. Medium ruby hue. Nose is slightly rustic: bramble fruits, earth, manure and hints of old oak wood. On the palate, medium acidity and alcohol, medium concentration and body. The mid palate is a bit hollow and the wine generally is flat. The finish is decent but not memorable. Disappointing for a Malconsorts. Might improve from here: drink now until 2023+. — 8 years ago

2007 vintage. At Boca di Lupo. Medium lemon hue. Heavy patisserie, slight oxidative notes, ripe stone fruits and lemon peel, some nutty notes. Wow. On the palate, dry, medium plus fresh acidity, medium body, lemon curd rich and deep concentration of flavour. Fairly long finish. Reminds me of NV Selosse Substance. Drink now until 2023. — 9 years ago
2001 vintage in Double Magnum at Boca Di Lupo. This has to be among the greatest Californian wines I have drunk. Deep ruby hue. Full concentration of graphite, black cherry and coffee aromas, cedar wood and char. Leather, saddlewood and Earth. Hugely complex and developing in the glass. On the palate, balanced and smooth, medium acidity, ripe fruits, medium plus body, full concentration, lush fine grained tannins. Very long. In this format, the wine sings, and the fruit is still present in droves suggesting that the bottle is maturing slowly.. Drink now until 2030+. Scoring on the nose was simple: it's a clearly 100 point wine in every sense. On the palate, It didn't live up to the reputation of the wonderful nose, and those slight shortcomings drop the mark down a few percentage points. A magnificent effort.. Outstanding. 98/100. — 9 years ago
2007 vintage. At Boca di Lupo. Pale to medium ruby hue. Wonderful nose of black cherry, crushed raspberry, sweet strong spice, mineral wet rock, gun powder and slight reductiveness. Superb. On the palate, medium body, medium plus acidity, medium alcohol and medium plus concentration. Very silky smooth texture. Long finish. This wine is really singing today. Power and elegance with finesse. Excellent. Drink now until 2025+ — 9 years ago

1995 vintage. At Boca di Lupo. Deep lemon hue. This is a wow wine. The nose is very complex and alluring: honey, citrus fruits with a hint of peach, petrol notes, and steely minerality. On the palate, the wine has bracing acidity and is energetic and tense, while hugely concentrated. Medium bodied with some oily texture, and medium alcohol. A broad fresh mid palate that fills your mouth's senses, and a fabulous finish that goes on for a minute or more. This wine could improve even from here: drink now until 2027+. Simply superb. — 8 years ago
Fruity but also a little spicy. — 9 years ago
London. Bocca di lupo. BYO truffles! — 9 years ago

Superb - from first taste to finish. Subtle berry and hint of oak rounded with a warm flourish. Thank you Jay Lupo!

2011. A little young, but it's opening up beautifully as I drink it. -- trying a new bottle 2 days later -- In retrospect this is much much nicer than the Cos Nero Di Lupo I also had this evening. Smooth tannins on the mid pallet and the earthy aftertones make this an excellent wine. I'm editing my 9.0 rating and upping it to 9.2. — 9 years ago
1999 vintage. At Boca di Lupo in Soho. Medium ruby hue. Very expressive nose of blackberry, black plum and smokey bacon, leather tan and earth. The wine is developing nicely. On the palate, there's high acidity, medium alcohol, medium plus body and medium plus crunchy tannins. The finish is long. There's full concentration on this wine - flavours similar to the aromas on the nose. An excellent example of Clape's Cornas. Drink now until 2026+ — 10 years ago

1996 vintage. At Boca di Lupo. Medium garner hue. Very expressive on the nose - cherry, tan leather, chocolate, sweet spice and slight gamey note. Complex. Palate is superb: balanced. Medium plus acidity and concentration. Ripe tannins. Great length. Really in a sweet spot. Will hold for sometime yet. — 8 years ago
