Damn. That's a well made ipa. So if you've been following my thoughts on these beers, I'm now three for five in aggreance that they're pretty spectacular. — 8 years ago
The surprise pairing hit at 'Alsace on the Roof,' this was magic with mustard and choucroute garnie... — 9 years ago
Rockin quaff: apricot flambé, portobello crust, cashew skin, honey-Meyer lemon custard, banana suggestion, juicy white peach, attitude, style and cheer. On palate, super-fine bead offsets just the right amount of autolytic crunch, with currents of expensive cashew milk conjoined with golden hay, chalky mineral bite, gardenia, musk and awesome. Long finish with plenty of cashew magic. In short: a dream ✨⭐️💛💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋 — 9 years ago

Denis Varnier is one of my favorite producers in the Cote de Blancs/Avize. His passing was tragic but the magic of his work lives on in these bottles and Thanksgiving seemed like an appropriate time to enjoy one. Classic Avize power but this cuvée always has a real mineral cut to it. This was gorgeous with air, balance of pure orchard fruits, rocks, and earthy elements like mushroom and fresh cut hay. Another facet I love in these wines is the texture, there’s room for interpretation, but you cannot get around the lengthy imprint these leave on your palate. 100 CH from “Clos du Grand Père,” 5 years sur lie, 9/2014 disgorgement — 5 years ago
Fruity. Light. — 8 years ago
Dark fruit balanced through old oak showing light spice on the nose encouraging thought to nail a specific note but is remaining a bit of an enigma in my rock rattled head after a good day enhanced by 75 MPH Harley induced wind and the brilliance of Bose and an iPhone. Ok, back to the wine, it touches, lightly grabs spreading its dark berry mini-burst in a layered earth touched tannin slow ride making magic with some of Chapel Hill's Bin 54's straight up amazing goodness (in this case very rare filet mignon, garlic tinged green beans and almond slivers; my go to steak spot in NC). Damn, this is all so right-on! Cheers! — 9 years ago

About what I rated the 09 in 2012 and the 14 in 2017. And I think I had a 12 not too long ago. These chards are good but this one particularly didn't hold a candle to a 14 Aubert Ritchie Chard. Hopefully not bottle variation on a 2015... Seemed to just not have a whole lot there. And I don't think it's because it is too astringent...the Judge wines seem to definitely rock it though. I got ahold of this one probably an hour after it had been open. — 5 years ago
