Just outside Barcelona, Catalan country - Denominació d'Origen Montsant. Grenache/Carignan blend. This was a bottle shop recommendation - trying to find something dry. Thought I’d go with it. Very dark with a purple hue, deep dark raspberry, with dark cherry and blueberry hints, earthy, mild spice, ripe but savoury with focused fruit, grunty tannin and tending-to dry finish. 10€, great value. Trying to avoid rioja at the moment, and this did the job nicely. — 6 years ago

Smells alcoholic, kind of stings my nasal canals. Has a musty, rounded smell over it, di says is American oak. Tastes complex, not super sweet, kind of savory. Feeling spreads out and mellows out in mouth. Has tannins, leaves an aftertaste, but not unpleasant — 7 years ago
