Probably my favorite “cheap” Italian red. Though tannic, well balanced w dark rich fruit, high acidity, and 14% al. Earthy in a great way. Great nose. Long finish. Nice alone. Or drink w meats and/or robust pasta. $18. (One weird item: there is no vintage year on the bottle). — 7 years ago

Milla Cala - the man - offers a floral nose, too, but lighter and with a bit more oak than La Piu Belle. More berries here, with a slightly herbal backbeat on the finish that I found irresistible. More than just a pretty label. Very good value wine for everyday use. Agree with comment from earlier vintage. Describing day 2 after opening. Starts sweet, then spicy, then finishes with a musky undergrowth. Somewhat dense with subtle tannins. Fruit is a huckleberry/fig melange. Overall unique and interesting. — 3 years ago
