Blend of 2004 & 2005 vintages. Missed the peak by a year maybe but still drinking quite nicely. — 5 years ago
Last bottle of a case I bought many years ago. One of my favorite blends of Cabernet Sauvignon 69%, Merlot 22%, Cabernet Franc 9%. Open and drink immediately. — 6 years ago
12/18. Probably the best cab I’ve tasted. Had a Cain 5 2006 and Caymus Special Select 2014 for comparison. It has it all. — 6 years ago

Medium to deep garnet red. A bit of Bret on the nose with musty notes, dirty cellar, and damp leaves. Moderate tannins (6/10) and medium bodied. Definitely tastes like a cooler and wet vintage. Earthy notes, herbaceous and only a touch of berries on the palate. Medium finish. Drink till 2019. — 8 years ago
Still drinking nicely. Lighter cab notes. — 4 years ago
Berries and cedar in the nose. Raspberries, anise and herbs in the palate. Long finish, high tannins, so decanting softens it. Excellent with a Cabernet-cracker pepper finished filet. Kudos to John Cain at Annie Gunn’s for recommending the wine — 5 years ago
It’s pizza and Pinot; pre-celebration b/4 my birthday tomorrow celebrating at the 30th anniversary Cain 5 in the vineyard luncheon with music and many old vintages of Cain 5. Big nose — strawberry, cherry and plum fruit lingering with tobacco, wet leaves and subtle vanilla. Medium red/purple color. Cherry taste and minerals initially. As it lingers on the tongue, sour raspberry, tannins and cedar come out . Nice acidity. Enjoying the beautiful sunset evening with this wine!! — 6 years ago
Dried herbs, earth, and cedar on the nose. Delicious blackberry and chocolate flavors dance on your tongue in delight. A medium finish and soft tannins. — 7 years ago

Cain still doesn’t disappoint. Classic Napa not new Napa. Structure, élégance and, delicate. Not over the top, not too bold, not too much residual sugar. I so wish more wineries would revert to this style. — 5 years ago
This was sold as a pop and drink wine but that was not my case. First impression was off. Weak nose and slightly fruit forward dark cherries was my main thought. So punt away and drink another day. Well the wait was all this needed. The nose opened up and the cherries mellowed and other dark berries came out of hiding. Little bit of spice and maybe herbs finish this wine. Time makes the difference in this wine. Decent and enjoy. — 6 years ago
Celebrating a momentous birthday and it did not disappoint. — 7 years ago

Oh the calamity.....leftover Waygu steak from last night's zoom Cain tasting...had to pop something worthy to go with it!
1.5 hour decant(decent chunky sediment). A majestic inky purplish garnet color. On the nose: a surprisingly subtle nose of dark cherry, spearmint, little blueberry, vanilla oak, graphite, and cedar. Taste: creamy, juicy, full body wine with blackberry, pencil lead, leather, cassis, and a long spiced dark chocolate finish. YUM!!! Drinks well with the decant and should keep going for many years. — 4 years ago
