Medium ruby color with aromas of ripe red fruits and elegant hints of floral. On the palate flavors of black cherry, raspberry and plum with hints of fig and tobacco. Tannins are fine and round, a tad young with high acidity noted. The finish is medium, smooth and ends with oak and earthy mineral notes. Very nice. Needs time. — 5 years ago

2009 Vintage. Another world. Similar to an Amarone. Cherry liqueur, blueberry crumble, and wild berry fruit. Mealy tannins, high alcohol, but surprisingly cohesive and lovely. — 11 years ago

2006 vintage. Good old fashioned Barolo. Light colour and hue. Medicinal notes. Floral and red cherry. Gorgeous crunchy tannins. Long finish. This is a step up from the '89. Plenty of years ahead of this wine. Very good indeed. NB: after 2 hours this wine is singing: roses and tar to the fore, integrated tannins, crisp acidity.
