Wow. Red cherry, strawberry, cedar/sandalwood, Hawthorne, fresh green herb, cassis, black mission fig, beautiful acidity, plush mouthfeel, zippy finish. Alive and composed beyond its years all at the same time. — 8 years ago

Drank at Yerba Buena Gardens while watching Eddie Palmieri and the Salsa Orchestra. Seemed like a good paring. Light and fresh. An old favorite rose, it's been at least 4 years since I've tasted it. Similar impression. — 9 years ago

A small family-owned estate in St. Helena, Napa Valley, dating back to the 1800s, with formal gardens, pre-prohibition buildings and 40-acre, organically farmed estate making very limited quantities of Sauv Blanc and Cab Sauvignon. Deep aromas of dark fruits and intense spice. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Blackberry and blueberry flavors, currents and cassis, pepper, leather and cacao, complex. Perfect structure, lingering with mineral spice. Wow! Tasting Sample. — 7 years ago

This is listed as a SGM but technically since it is 35% Mourvedre is should be listed as a SMG. All this Mourvedre is the defining characteristic. Complex nose but an even more complex palate. Only 12 months in new oak keep the oak notes subtle allowing the complexity if the fruit to shine through. There is mouth filling fruit up front with a hint if green olive to keep it honest. The finish is so smooth I would describe it more as velvet than silk. This is so complex that I could go well with so many foods but so intriguing at the same time that I hesitate to insult it by pairing it with a meal. At 28$ a steal. — 11 years ago
Paired so nicely with a seafood-forward meal we had at the outstanding (and simply stunning) new Grey Gardens resto in Kensington Market. This chard was ever-so-slightly effervescent which only added to its bright and fresh quality. — 7 years ago
2013 vintage Smaragd. At The Gardens restaurant, Munich. Pale lemon hue. Medium intensity, pear and lemon, honeysuckle, yeasty notes. Hints of apricots. Youthful. On the palate, silky mouthfeel, off dry, medium plus acidity, medium plus body and alcohol, full intensity of flavour - stone fruit dominant. Good finish. Drink now until 2026+. — 7 years ago
Enjoyed this Champagne while sitting in the sun beside a pond in the gardens outside the Louvre. It was perfect for our picnic! Gently effervescent, beautiful to look at, faintest hint of apricot on the nose, lively mouthfeel, crisp acidity, dry minerality, short but pleasant finish. Went very well with sea salt potato chips, subtle and thinly sliced cured meats, herbed pickled green olives, and a mini wheel of chévre! — 8 years ago

The deep mystery of black currant - and its bright acidity as well. Changed a lot over an hour, probably hit its peak stride around that time. — 7 years ago
