Morgon Gamay 2015

Potpourri nose with def spice/Brett elements. But fruit rides wave of acidity. Tannins still young. A beaut — 9 years ago

Les Picasses Chinon Cabernet Franc 2010

Youngest Raffault I've ever tasted. Classic expression with a very slight Brett note but wound up very tight. Decant, decant, decant or wait. — 10 years ago

Domaine du Pegau

Cuvée Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2006

2006. Just getting into gear with plenty of time to go. A good bottle with no brett, great structure and lovely balance with the acidity providing the scaffolding for the fruit. Great with a soy sauce and bourbon- marinaded flank steak. — 10 years ago

Floral aromatics with some notes of anise and currant. A little Brett on the palate- but integrated. Cherry cord on the finish with some beautiful tannins. Drink now. — 11 years ago

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1984

1984 Opus slightly browning but very good ruby. Opening up nose of cedar cassis Tabacco slight vanilla. Taste is definitely showing some age but expressing power of Napa. Med acid med + body. Tannins mature long finish! Very balanced!! A touch of Brett but only enough to give level of character! — 10 years ago

Bodegas Faustino

Gran Reserva Faustino I Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2001

Body medium +, Brett, menthol, pepper, strawberry, cherry, earthy, oak. A bit "hot". Bottle is atypical. You can't see content. Great with beef deli. Grown at high altitude. 13.5deg. A very pleasant surprise! Don't buy a bottle by its label. — 10 years ago

Cain Five Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Way too young now but destined for greatness. Chris Howell knows how to showcase what the mountain gives him. This wine, with its hints of well integrated Brett, is not only distinctive for Napa, but stands out against others from the mountain AVAs. Cellar for a long time! — 10 years ago

Château Montrose

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

1982 Bordeaux First Growth. Great vintage. Color is garnet with some rim variation. On the nose, black fruit, overripe plum, tobacco, spice, chocolate, a bit savory and deep down a minuscule amount of Brett. On the palate, dry, m- acid, silky smooth tannins. Black cherry, dark fruit, minerality, and brine. Definitely not overoaked. balanced beautifully! It took about 30 minutes to open up. A bit funky at first but then the fruit pushed forward. An elegant wine that would pair well with food. I enjoyed it on its own! A chance in a lifetime to drink this wine! #bordeauxwine, #greatwine #greatvintage #rightbank #100pts #wine #firstgrowthbordeaux #frenchwine #lifestooshorttodrinkbadwine #lifeisgood #studywine — 10 years ago
