Xlnt pinot, great spicy edge, bursting with fruit but restrained tannins, a real mouthful, from BG, should drink well for another 5-8 years — 9 years ago
Magnum 1996 Harlan. Third set of reds we tried at house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. This wine we tried alongside the '96 Screaming Eagle. So cool to compare these two wines. This wine tasted much younger- greener, stronger tannins. Gorgeous wine and fun to drink out of magnum — 10 years ago
1996 Salon S Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne. Champagne to kick off the house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. We love! — 10 years ago
Best BG ever for me.
Color intact, medium ruby all the way.
Nose is classic Red Burgundy, but with a lift that reminds me of Vosne-Romanee, earth, berries, perfume like elegance and presistence.
The palate is sauve, with elegant, silky and refined red fruit, subtle spice and good length. Not a stunner but absolutely Burgundian. #leroy — 10 years ago

With no wax along the neck I know what kind of BG will be imbibed...At least I thought I knew, but a light, wafted air flutter rolls over your tongue, like a strawberry hued wave about to crest.
The nose had a little funk at first. Steely underripe strawberry dominates the nose thereafter. The palate expands on muted strawberries with cran and rasp vying for their chance to share the limelight. Hints of lime peel and tart, green apple. Spice from the French oak fermentation and inherent, earthy Pinot Noir varietal characteristics tie together a fiery connotation. Interesting and enjoyable. — 9 years ago
1996 Screaming Eagle. Third set of reds we tried at house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. This wine we tried alongside the '96 Harlan out of magnum. The larger format on Harlan probably amplified its youthful flavor. We hands down loved the Screaming Eagle- supple, nuanced, like velvet in the mouth. Epic! — 10 years ago
1991 Dalla Valle Maya CS. Second set of reds we tried at house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. This wine we tried alongside the '97 Insignia. Hard to pick a fave bw the two, but the group seemed to favor the Maya slightly over the Insignia. Both were awesome! — 10 years ago
Magnum 2006 Marcassin Blue-Slide Ridge PN. First red at house dinner w A&C BG, MR&GR after Champagne trip. Tried this alongside the magnum 2006 Kistler Cuvee Catherine Occidential Station Vineyard PN. This had a huge blueberry, sweet berry nose. Delicious. — 10 years ago
2005 was a great year in BG. Held up nicely. Great acidity and brightness. — 10 years ago

Lovely. Just lovely. Great gift, thanks BG — 11 years ago
A bit like old Savennières. Hazelnut and quince. A fino sherry note also. — 8 years ago
2001 Dominus Estate CS. Drank this w the ladies after the house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. Green and spicy on the nose. We really enjoyed it! — 10 years ago
1997 Joseph Phelps Insignia. Second set of reds we tried at house dinner w A&C BG and MR&GR. This wine we tried alongside the '01 Dalla Valle Maya. This wine is gorgeous, but much bigger and muscular than the Maya. We always love this wine. — 10 years ago
Magnum 2006 Kistler Cuvee Catherine Occidential Station Vineyard PN. First pair of red at house dinner w A&C BG, MR&GR after Champagne trip. Tried this alongside the magnum 2006 Marcassin Blue-Slide Ridge PN. This was similarly sweet on the nose, but might have had a slightly more nuanced flavor and complexity than the Marcassin. Delicious! — 10 years ago
1996 Bruno Giacosa Riserva Asili Di Barbaresco. Drank at Bouchon w R&M S, A&C BG, A&S during our official opening night dinner. Big wine and great w steak. — 10 years ago

For fans of the Belle Glos Las Alturas. Big, rich, made-in-America Pinot, this a tad finer than the BG. I loved it, but not for everyone. @meadowood — 8 years ago
