A nice surprise - full of black berries and pepper, as expected, but also with vanilla and chocolate, due to its ten-month-aging in French oak barrels. Very elegant tannins, very elegant wine. Taninos elegantes e macios. Um vinho muito gostoso. — 10 years ago

A nice Pinot Noir option for those in Latin America who are not willing to import a French Pinot. — 11 years ago

Beauty of all Rieslings. Made by the German Egon Muller Chateau Bela boosts with all the qualities of top class Riesling -vibrant acidity balanced by wonderful scale of aromas. With gastronomic feast of Czech food at La Degustation Boheme in Prague, this wine rocks! — 12 years ago

Just great expression of terroir. Pity that a few bottles left in the warehouse. — 10 years ago
From the Piave river area, this Raboso shows perfection with pasta, due to its intense acidity. Happy for having a box of it here - Da região do Rio Piave, esta uva autóctone italiana faz um belo trabalho como um vinho gastronômico. — 10 years ago
Not really my jam, mostly because it does actually taste like blackberry jam. To be fair, there is some really expensive oak flavors showing, and not just as obvious vinilla, but as black tea and maybe #2 pencil. It's a good wine, but it's not a wine for people that like to tread lightly. — 11 years ago
Vinarija Gesellmann, vino Bela Rex(kuve Cabarnet Sauvignon i Merlo). Alkohola 14,5%, godina 2011. Odlicno vino, u kategoriji Andy Kolwarenca. — 11 years ago
I need to know more about this producer! Great stuff — 11 years ago
Um fantástico vinho. Pareço estar tomando um chardonnay do Napa. Amarelo dourado, belas pernas.
No nariz, frutas brancas secas (pessego, pera, abacaxi), banana. — 11 years ago

Harslevelu from Somlo, Hungary, made by the "Grand Old Man" Fekete Bela. Harslevelu is the supporting grape to Furmint in the production of Tokaji.
But here we have only Harslevelu, aka the "lime leaf" or "Linden leaf", which is the dominant grape in the tiny region of Somlo vinified dry.
Minimalist wine making, hand harvesting, fermentation and 3 years aging in old 1200 liter Hungarian oak casks before bottling.
I get a lot of dried apples, honey, lime citrus with and underlying powerful minerality with comparably mouth-watering acidity. The density of the wine distracts you if you don't pay attention for the mouthwatering. You can taste the air this gets with the barrel aging as it broadens the wine and deepens the complexity. Depth, density and power with a deep minerally core.
Ironically I was listening to a @leviopenswine podcast today with JL Chave and how Chave spoke about the importance of barrel aging of the white wines for the air (not the oak per se) to break up the flesh of the white wine with the oxygen...this wine made me think of that description from JL on how he makes his Hermitage Blanc.
