Domaine Lucien Boillot et Fils

Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2010

A rich Gevry-Chambertin from Lucien Boillot. I've had a lot of Pierre's brother, Louis (married to a true Mistress of Wine, Ghislaine Barthod), but this is the first of my Lucien Boillot's made by Pierre. I think I like the quality and price:quality a bit more than the Louis Boillot (his prices have gone up since he left the Rosenthal stable). Fragrant, dark cherry, cranberry, earth, and some leather and mushroom on the nose and palate. Clean, deep red color. — 8 years ago

Shared this at a wedding , so while I may have been predisposed to enjoy it, I also know, that even in the relentless flames of the inferno, this wine would be deeply delicious ;-) — 11 years ago

Burgundian beauty. Gamey, meaty, leathery coffee notes along with the usual red fruits and spice. — 7 years ago

Unusual wine but delicious. Smells like a sherry and tastes of walnuts — 10 years ago

Just great. Balance of fruit, acid and tannins. Quite young, too. #corkage #fort — 11 years ago

Les Baudes Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2004

Called metallic silk before opening. Turns out not sure between metal and vegetal. What's the real typical profile on this terroir? I say Not a safe bet. Price corresponds to rating. — 9 years ago
