Wow, acid is here and that's for sure. Utterly refreshing, peppery lime nose. Grapefruit, gave, bitter lime but all very balanced. I could drink a bucket. — 7 years ago
The winner of the Downs Club Premium Red taste off from 41 masked Reds. Not my final choice but democracy prevailed by 4 votes to 3. This was in my final 3. A nice balance of sweet red fruits with some spice and hint of pepper. Balanced and smooth. Will cellar up to 10 years but overall a little too sweet for my palate. The more restrained wine from this producer. Has a touch more length and intensity than the Romulus. — 10 years ago

Such a complex wine, a crazy nose, so much depth. Looking forward to what it offers tomorrow — 10 years ago
Excellent wine. Wanted to enjoy Pino Noir, by the place ran out. They suggested this wine and it didn't disappoint. It has a nice peppery tone. Very enjoyable. Will enjoy again! — 11 years ago

Well priced for 12 yr, smooth, medium oak, not peaty, given as a wedding gift. Goes great with nuptials. — 11 years ago
Light. Good for sipping. — 11 years ago
Incredibly smooth. Much more peety than smoky, but could still taste the oak. Pleasant. $NA / 91pts Youngs Market — 12 years ago

This past Saturday I attended a get together with close friends. We opened the 2014 Saarloos & Sons Family Tree Rhone Blend. 55% Grenache, 27% Mourvedre and 18% Syrah. This was the hit of the evening that turned heads and got people talking.
The nose was light with cherry, raspberry, plum, cinnamon, black pepper, anise, roses and an earthy gravel.
On the palate was beautiful fruit of black cherry, blackberry, plum, black pepper, anise , clove and a good gravel component.
The wine was soft velvety smooth with a medium mouth feel and medium to plus acidity with medium smooth tannin that leads to a medium long finish. A very enjoyable wine. Almost the weekend please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago
Delicious. Nose is weird, but in a good way. Red licorice and chalk. Nice acidity, tart red cherry. Finishes slightly chewy with some earth at moderate length. Very enjoyable! Great vintage in #flxwine — 10 years ago
