Domaine de Villaine is owned by none other than Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of that most illustrious estate, Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. The little house Villaine is located in Bouzeron, and offers fine quality for money for those looking for a good value. The 2011 is light on fruit, a notoriously difficult vintage, but it has some charm nevertheless with tart cherry notes, cranberry and rose hips on the palate. The acidity is quite high, and the wine begs for food. A nice cheese plate? Yes. — 10 years ago

much like walking into a record store and picking up that album with the wild cover art that calls your attention, Fela Kuti + Saxophone + Beer = going home with me. Impulse buy turned raving fan. This beer fucks. Best beer I've had all year, hands down. Definitely now attuned to Shady Oak and their continued brewing — 8 years ago
Peaches and vanilla. Great sour flavor. One of my favs from rare barrel, so much better than the one I had 2 years ago. More real peach flavor. — 8 years ago
The best creamy beer I've ever had. — 8 years ago
Right in its wheel house. Cherry and black berry. Silly tannins and long finish — 8 years ago
Can't go wrong bringing this strawberry summer rose to a backyard party. And a plus if you're a "House of Cards" fan. — 9 years ago

Co-worker at The Wine House LA shared this with us. — 10 years ago
Medium purplish red. Dark spices on the nose, bitter cocoa, oak barrel, some animal nuances, light cherries, a touch smoky and crushed gravel. Tight on the tannins (6.5/10) not yet rounded. Complex palate yet tight as well with notes of raw twigs, bramble berries, anise, spices, dried cherries, a touch of alcohol and pepper. Long finish with definite potential to improve once the palate rounds out. Drink till 2024. — 8 years ago
Crisp and delicious! Would definitely drink it again! — 8 years ago
One of my new local favorites...Really well made, perfect example of oatmeal stout. — 8 years ago
2015 aged in wine barrels. I'm guessing blended because nothing like the Chardonnay barrel I had yesterday on draft. Insane complexity with great mouthfeel. Citrus, some berries, tart, key lime, a touch of funk. Reminds me of forces unseen from rare barrel. Great work! — 8 years ago
Holy shite. Amazing blended sour ale. Pitch perfect. Exceptionally long finish. A subtle and complex masterpiece. — 9 years ago
First time I have tasted anything from this house - honeysuckle on the nose and beautiful citrus & peach on the palate - great length — 10 years ago
Very nicely blended and surprisingly soft pumpkin finish, with a hint of bourbon. 10% alchy. — 11 years ago
Had over 2 days and really liked it . Peachy and a real nice finish... — 11 years ago

Nice bourbon barrel aged beer, rich and syrupy like a stout, hides the 12% alcohol well — 7 years ago
