Balanced, often banshee wines are pretty fruity... balanced and complex. One of my favorites — 5 years ago

Waltham is a town in the suburbs of Boston, near where Cara's mother lives. Its high street has both Dollar Shops and little boutiques. Its eateries include both inexpensive Cuban diners and hip new restaurants. Red Bird is one such place with its chic decor and unfussy new American dishes. The menu could have been guessed at well ahead of time: beet salad, Brussels, hangar steak. The chicken entree included a spiced apple bread pudding. Tasty but would have been more so served later in the meal with some Creme Anglais. Quantities were enormous.
Decent Massachusetts restaurants often have a common shortcoming: their wine list. Made worse by the illegality of corkage. The options were limited to around ten reds. A Chianti I've never heard of. A Bulgheri wine I've never heard of. A couple of Californian wines I've never heard of. And then there was a Damilano Barolo for $150. No thank you.
With some under the table research on Delectable and Vinous I chose this Oregon Pinot Noir from Averaen. Ripe red cherries but with nice freshness. Sustains well and gained complexity with air. (On an aside, I asked for the bottle to be cooled a little and it made the world of difference.) "Bottled by Banshee" on the label boded well as I'm a fan of what this Sonoma producer is doing, especially for the price. — 7 years ago

Been holding onto this one for a couple of years. Not as much oyster shell as when we tasted it, but still so delicious. Stay safe Sonoma. — 5 years ago

Lovely Sauvignon Blanc that was part of a welcome gift for my wife & I during our recent staycation at the brand new Westin hotel here in our very own Texas Medical Center. Perfect wine to sip on while watching the sun go down from the terrace. — 5 years ago
Very smooth. Very nice — 7 years ago
Wow. Just wow. — 7 years ago
On the nose, black cherries, black tea and orange peels. In the mouth, black cherries, earl grey tea and high acidity. Good mid-palate. Medium-long finish. Very smooth and very modern. Great QPR for a Pinot at this level, however it is not my preferred style. — 7 years ago
Very good Purchased at O'Briens after wine tasting there — 8 years ago
Big, opulent, delicious. Meyer lemon, honey, citrus zest, herbs and cream. Sweetness is balanced by good acidity. — 8 years ago
Delicious wine with a friend. My first petite Shiraz! Def my fav red wine so far. Fruity but not sweet, low tannin, med acidity. Really yummy! Love the label! — 8 years ago
