What a difference a year makes!
This Chardonnay is a pleaser- yellow apples, hints of lees, spring blossoms, a light citrus overtone and even some minerality.
Great texture- starts silky on the tongue then crunchiness fills the mouth then recedes just the right amount to leave enduring flavors of lemon, tart wild apples, chamomile, and mineral. — a day ago
Just gets better with time. Upon release I always finds these wines big and just-conjoined but after a few years they evolve so amazingly. Muted fruit so well integrated, light tannin and medium long finish — 2 months ago
Apple and citrus but with a good body, great with rich seafood or hard cheeses — 3 months ago
Purchased at the vineyard in May. Just opened last night and it was even better than we remembered from the tasting. — 2 months ago
Balletto Pinot showdown no. 1
Best in the mouth.
Light ruby-garnet. Visually appears to have age beyond it's 4 years to me.
Not a great nose- overripe fruit, some blue notes, oaky spice- maybe has seen new American oak?
Mouth: wow, great full++ mouth feel, a really nice roundness here, unexpected.
This wine is ready to drink right now! — a month ago
Balletto Pinot showdown no.3
Second highest rating but third as far as potential. I would wait another 6 mos to a year before opening another '18.
Medium ruby, clear.
Nose: fall leaves, earthy, less fruit expression.
Mouth: Airy, light body. Tart, more open than the '19 Cedar Ridge but not much depth, finished quickly. — a month ago
Pretty. Pomegranate and loads of cherry cola. Some darkness underneath but light on its feet — 7 months ago
