My good friend Will Burkholder (Fine Wine Vault) gave me these 2 Kamen's to taste side by side. Will introduced me to Kamen about a year ago. Why I did not know about Kamen before is beyond me. Okay, these are two very different wines. Both excellent! The nose on the Kashmir is to die for. It is silky smooth--ready to drink now and for years! The Lava is bolder and more layered. It may be a couple of years early to crack open the Lava. I love both! — 9 years ago
Seriously. A 16-yr old Zin... Bright berries, very fruit-forward. And it just lingers on your palette until you can't help but take another sip. Simply incredible durability for a Zinfandel. #ZinMaster #HouseOfZin — 9 years ago
Intense citrus aromas with notes of pear, apricot and wet stone. Big, rich and dry on the palate. Flavors of lemon and lemon zest and citrus oil leads to deep, stone minerality, grassiness and full, deep acidity with just a hint of oak. The finish is incredibly dry and zesty with intense length and depth. — 9 years ago

Crisp, clean. Very light. Fruity mid palate. Slight minerals. Clean finish. Perfect summer wine. Don't care much for the name or bottle look. — 11 years ago
Spicy but lovely Syrah. Unusual in a good way — 12 years ago

A well off friend did bring this one to our Friday tasting at the wine store ---- and yesterday I first liked it and then was unimpressed??? Just a bunch of acid and little fruit behind it so my bet was this will not make it. Michele I think she is a sommelier agreed. So this morning I am sitting here in the sun and give it a second shot after air for 15 hours (that should do it 😁). AND? I was wrong! Red currant nose very Burgundian 12.8%. In a blind tasting I would think this is a Gevrey Chambertin. Tealeaves, forest floor, dirt, cloves, all spice, dark berries and just a super tiny hint at California fruit very impressive! So the problem is how long do you need to give this air 30 min or 15 hours oh boy 👍🍷🍷🍷. — 9 years ago
Dark red fruit nose. Super ripe black cherry, blackberry, then light spice, like white pepper, and a little bit of funk. Clean on the palette. Very drinkable. Had on jun 29 2016. — 9 years ago

Soaring aromas of spice and lemon followed by bright acid and structure. Gorgeous texture and a precise, long finish. Seven years old and this is a current release! This is what Chardonnay should be. — 10 years ago

I tried this right out of the bottle and was a little worried - super tight and one dimensional - but after two hours open it was singing and I was smiling. The nose has a more savory profile but the palate is full of bright red fruits with crushed gravel on the finish. Super smooth - the fruit and spice from the Grenache keeps the gaminess/savory flavors of the Syrah in check while the Mourvèdre adds richness. Helen Keplinger is a genius when it comes to these new world “old world blends” - I have yet to have one from her that hasn’t been fantastic. — 8 years ago
