Beautifully plush, juicy, with ripe red fruits indicative of this Merlot-dominant blend, and that wonderful vegetal quality of well ripened and integrated Cabernet Franc. Aged only 15 months in one year old barrels previously used for first wine Angelus. Plums, cassis, tomato leaf, capsicum, white pepper, graphite. Fruit-driven, yet well structured. Hint of menthol ( not near La Tache levels), dry, cinnamon candy. This is an absolute iconic wine and a treat to experience, but was outdone by the 1990 Angelus. What a treat — 9 years ago
