Tried about 6 mos ago. The name of the estate comes from "Ca' Pazzo", shown on ancient maps. Estate covers an area of 190 hectares, 54 which are vineyards, 4 are olive groves, 87 which are wooded and 45 are planted with new vines. Deep Ruby with a berry fruit aromas blossom and smoke, aged for 2 years on oak. On the palate cherry & strawberry flavors, with leather, cacao and tobacco notes. Lively acidity, fine approachable tannins, long ending with spicy oak finish. Nice! — 3 years ago
Last week was a combo of 4th Friday and Open That Bottle Night on back to back nights. Needless to say, the lineup between both days was full of heavy hitters, so I’m only posting standout bottles.
These can be polarizing wines due to their massive and rich profile, but they are certainly decadent, delicious and approachable young. That being said, this was probably at peak 3-5yrs ago. It didn’t seem tired, but the fruit has started to show some sappy qualities, as well as baked fig and cherry liqueur. Stewed black cherries, dark chocolate dipped blueberries and ripe blackberries. It drinks with good acidity and tannin, as well as cinnamon, graham cracker and more liqueur type notes at the finish. Still hedonistic in style. — 4 years ago
A local restaurant was featuring this fabulous Paso Robles Merlot! Lovely, a great surprise! Tastes like a Bordeaux- full bodied deliciousness! — 5 years ago
Trader Joe’s. Standard Napa Pinot Noir — 5 years ago
Refreshing flavors and aroma of strawberries and pineapple 🍓🍍 — 6 years ago
I still love this Pinot but the 2011 was amazing I drank at least a case. It does not have the same feel seems more heavy with darker fruit notes. — 7 years ago
Greg Linn! Third Pinot with Meera and Mythri — 8 years ago
Impressive. Enjoyed with a homemade tomato basil prosciutto pizza. — 9 years ago
Not generally a Pinot drinker but thought this was "meaty" enough to suit my taste. Very good. — 10 years ago
Las Alturas' Spanish for 'the heights', a fitting name, this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. 4th gen Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner from a family with farming and winemaking roots in Napa since 1906. Met Joe several times. Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot I have come across, almost looks like a Cab). Rich berry flavors with cedar, spice and vanilla. Lingering ending with sweet oak notes. Consistent quality Nice! A Fav! — 4 years ago
Very similar to the cooper and thief red blend but at a much lower costs. Hints of vanilla on the back end add for a pleasant aftertaste — 4 years ago
Glad I bought this bottle some weeks ago at the vinery. Really delicious! — 5 years ago
Run Lola Run and a great wine — 5 years ago
It’s not overly sweet. Perfect balance of sweet with hint of fruity tang. Would surly buy again! #its5oclocksomewhere — 6 years ago
Good wine. Almost a 9 — 7 years ago
Full flavor. Not too jammy. — 7 years ago
Slightly sour, wonderful flavour. Light to medium bodied. Would be good with strong cheeses. — 8 years ago
New release of our Ancient Vines blend (⅓ each Zinfandel, Mourvèdre & Carignane) from Bedrock Vineyard. All 3 varietals play well together and add their own distinct flair, making for a red that's full-flavored yet nuanced. I would pair it with ribeye steaks, grilled lamb or braised short ribs. — 9 years ago
