Loibner Steinertal Smaragd Grüner Veltliner 2006

This is in a great place right now, paying dividends for its 7 years in the cellar. It's fashionable to criticize this vintage and complain it's cracking up, but whatever those people are tasting, there's no sign of it whatsoever here. This is still young and crackling with chiseled acidity, the fruit complexion somewhat deepened in tone but still florescent. It combines flavors of pears and more luscious tropical fruits like bananas with a pleasantly bitter, peppery edge. — 9 years ago

Weissenkirchener Ried Achleiten Smaragd Riesling 1997

Wow, this shows the extreme difference between botrytis infected👎(inflected) 👎wines and non. Last night, 97 knoll, Gruner Smargd. Tonight, 97 Prager Riesling Smargd ( non botrytis inflected/ infected)
What a frickin delish non infected wine. Prager; absolutely gorgeous after 18 years! Bright yellow with incredible depth of fruit while still having amazing acidity at this age. The Knoll , While drinkable, was past its prime.
sign me up for Prager, Niholiahof & Alzinger (among others)

Loibner Steinertal Smaragd* Grüner Veltliner 2013

Honeysuckle, white peach, tarragon, pea shoots. Pale, near water white. Complex, medium body, high acidity, lengthy finish. Not overly ripe, but enough fruit to balance the varietal green character. Lovely. — 8 years ago

Loibenberg Smaragd Trocken Grüner Veltliner

Wonderful. Perfectly balanced with zippy acid and round body; tropical fruits and minerals, almost seaside. Both intense aromas and flavors, lingering all damn day in my mouth. Loves it. — 9 years ago
