Celebrating the first championship for Cleveland in 52 years with great friends. A night I'll never forget. This wine reeks of toasted brioche, almond paste, and confectioners sugar. Bubble contrails for days. Go cavs! — 9 years ago
Remains one if my favorite whites in 2016. Some spritz - light. Lots of Sediment for sure unfiltered. Yeasty almond pit nose. Then peach on the palate. Lingering for such a light wine. Just a 'super cool' summer wine. Not available in CA but in New York. A high rating for what is - a unique Müller Thurgau from Enderle & Moll i could drink this by the case. — 10 years ago
Fabulous !!!
A very underrated white wine that will age gracefully.
Floral, citrusy fruit, mineral, almond, hazelnut, oily texture and finishing like a key lime pie Cream Brûlée
It is like drinking an aged white burgundy and Chenin Blanc — 10 years ago
Love the almond smell of this wine. Taste is drier than expected but very enjoyable. — 6 years ago
Bright and promising nose with camomile, pear, almond tones. A lot of mineral and chalk on the mouth, longish aftertaste with almond. Would love to compare how Arneis develops with age, sure it suits him. — 8 years ago
One of the best deals around I reckon. $20 for a single vineyard sherry! Highly complex. Rich, yeasty, briny, nutty nose, with hints of fresh green notes. The palate bringing in all that salinity again, almond, lemon zest, caramel, raisin, olive, and oddly enough unripe durian, especially on that bitter textural finish. At that price, use it as a mixer or forget it in the cellar - there isnt much to lose.
Notes from TWM:
There are many reasons why Valdespino's benchmark Fino stands out from the Sherry crowd. First are the grapes, which are sourced from a single vineyard, Macharnudo Alto, in High Jerez. Then there is the traditional fermentation, which takes place in large (600-litre) American oak barrels. Finally, there is the solera system, where the wine spends between eight to ten years, going through 10 stages (criadera) where most Finos have 3. The result, said the Top 100 judges, is "a wonderful weight of flavour with lots of body, fresh acidity and a really clean finish." — 8 years ago
Pale golden robe; dry toast, almond nose; tiny beads, elegant mousse; citrus notes, bright acids. — 9 years ago
Perfect condition btl opened for 5 hrs. Light yellow gold. Nose has lemon, almond paste, stone. Rich and glycerol in the mouth. Really nice fine grain acidity and very long finish. Great wine. — 9 years ago
What can be said about d'Yquem can only be expressed in poetry, even in a modest vintage like 1998. It is an inner sanctum, a fragrant garden, a poignant release that is both profound and glorious. Descriptors cannot do it justice, sensual and honey-drenched layers of apricots, vanilla bean, creme brûlée and almond pastry. Viscous and glycerol-laden in the mouth, offset by dazzling acidity, dried fruit—quince, more apricots. A silken, pure, honey-spun web of delight. I'm rambling, but d'Yquem does that. — 10 years ago
Wow. Been working through a case of these in the past 9 years, and this is the wine that jumpstarted my love for white Bordeaux. And it still delivers. In spades. Reaching peak maturity now, mega complex, and very very lush and concentrated. Quite Burgundian in style. Yellow fruit, dry honey, floral accents, creamy vanilla, lofty oak, green tea, almond and white raisins. Endless finish, stupendous wine. 3 bottles left in the bank, Thank God.. — 10 years ago

Almond, sherry and orange peel. Jura funky from Spain. Unique. — 8 years ago
My limited experience of Napa Valley Chardonnays have been usually the over oaked ultra ripe variety so this Stony Hill was a refreshing change. Stony Hill have been making Chardonnay since 1952 so have great experience with the variety. Pale to mid Gold. Non oaky no malolactic in fact neutral wood is used. Honey sweet palate with nectarine and almond. In the 1001 Wines book and deservedly so. — 8 years ago
